I think I remember his name already mentioned here in this place, but well, here we are:

SOAP & GLORY: STEVE WILL BE BACK AS 0WEN 0WEN 7

EASTENDERS bad guy MARTIN KEMP is in the frame to play the next James Bond, I hear.

Hunky Martin - who played Steve Owen - has just left the soap in a blaze of glory.

Now producers of the 007 movies have discussed giving him a licence to thrill as the biggest film hero of them all. His agent Derek Webster tells me: "I spoke to the people who make the Bond films about casting Martin and they took my suggestion on board.

"I think he would make a great James Bond - he's got the looks and the screen presence.

"But as yet it's undecided whether PIERCE BROSNAN will continue in the role."

Martin's final Walford car chase will certainly help on his CV - not to mention the bedroom scene with Sam Mitchell.

The star has appeared in a number of films. But he is usually on the wrong side of the law.

His biggest success was as Reggie Kray in hit movie The Krays.EX-Emmerdale star LISA RILEY will soon be back on the box in a new larger-than-life role. She will play a struggling slimmer in ITV's second series of Fat Friends.

CLARE McGLINN (Corrie's Charlie) was entertaining drinkers at Manchester's Press Bar with a karaoke session the other day. Even through my alcoholic haze I can tell you the girl was good.

In my opinion, Hugh Jackman or Adrian Paul would fit better to the part. the problem for Adrian Paul might be that he really looks like Sean Connery...

Some people think he'd play the role well, others. well... dont.Personnally i think he could play the role very well. His acting was become a little stale in Eastenders, but thats not suprising, after playing him nearly everyday for the past 4 years. Kemp would make a great Bond, i think.

I totally agree here ShockTroop22. He'd be a great Bond. In fact, the first time I saw him I said to my mum 'Wouldn't he be a great Bond'
At which point she said 'Well if he did he'd have two things in common with Roger Moore. 1) They both played James Bond 2) Neither of them can act for toffee.'

She's not really a big fan of either. She seems to have this strange hatred of Roger Moore. I think it goes back to her childhood where she was forced to sit down with her family and watch 'The Saint'. (Which i love!)

Anyway back to topic; he'd be great, I've seen so many pictures of him in which he looks 'Bondy'. I really think he has what it takes.

When I said that he looked like to Sean Connery, I meant that the next Bond actor would be great if he could develop his own style (like Pierce Brosnan).Each Bond actors are unique and Of Course Sean Connery was the first and the best (in my opinion).
one last thing, YOU should be POLITE on a forum.

Wow, Kemp's agent thinks he'd make a great Bond, how surprising. And he suggested it to the Bond producers who "took his suggestion on board" ... That's it, it's a lock!

I suggest celebrity Bond death matches (OK, not to the death but a nice beating wouldn't hurt), the last one standing wins! (after Pierce doesn't want his role anymore in some 5-10 years, or whenever).

OK here goes, the 1st round matchups:

Colin Firth v Cristian Bales
Martin Kemp v Hugh Jackman
Clive Owen v Rupert Everett
Cuba Gooding v Ewan McGregor (who will Roger Moore root for?)
Jeremy Northram v Robbie Williams
Ioan Gryffth (sp?) v. Adrian Paul
Gerald Butler v. Ralph Fiennes
Nameless Brit Soap actor v Nameless Brit Soap actor

Who wins?

ROFL... yeah, along with every other dark haired blue eyed bod with an Equity card.

This is an old rumour, and almost as tired as MK's voice. He's too old, boring, dull and drab to ever BE Bond. The day he gets the role is the day I quit being a Bond fan.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is really a most sad and depressing piece of news, it appears as the new milenium slowly unfolds we are losing the high standards our forefathers earnestly strove for...
We are told to say "Great Britain" instead of England.
We might lose the good ol' English pound to the "Euro".
The Green-Grocers have to weigh goods in Metric and not imperial(by law in England).
And now Martin Kemp's agent thinks he(Martin Kemp) would do a good job playing 007. I think not! I do hope this never turns out to be the case, Martin Kemp could never in a million years hope to be as good as any of the actors who have had the honour to play 007, he is merely an "has been" 80's pop star, who by chance got one or two mediocre parts acting on stage and screen. Success, it seems has gone to his head. Martin Kemp being cast as James Bond 007 would be as bad as Britney Spears being cast in the role of "M", we can only let things go so far, we do have to maintain at least some degree of dignity.
I peronally think he would be a great Bond. After all, who was Connery before becoming Bond? He was a truck driver! Moore - A rival programs actor, The Persuaders and The Saint. Lazenby? A Model. Dalton? Working on stage doing Shakespeare!
I know some of this my be minimal, but hey, you get the idea!
Following your logic, I had jobs as a milkman and a frozen food supervisor for my first **** jobs, but that doesn't make me a great Bond!
He's already 40. He'll be too old by the time Pierce retires the role.
Blimey, that explosion did mess him up, didn't it?
M (may I call you M?), that's certainly A Martin Kemp. Whether it's THE Martin Kemp is another matter.
As to the Martin Kemp who is the subject of this board, I very much hope this is untrue. He looks like a spoon.
(That's not slang for anything. He just looks like a spoon).
I wouldn't like to see him as Bond, maybe as a villain, because he looks sort of ugly, but charming.
I hope he won't be Bond.
I can only assume that the photo doesn't do Mr Kemp justice, as he looks a lot like Michael Palin.
And I definitely can't imagine Palin portraying Bond.
oh God no!!! THis must be stopped. I don't watch eastender nor am i a huge fan of Spandau ballet but i for one don't think its a good idea to see Kemp as 007. I've seen other articles which suggest actors such as James Purefoy and the bloke who plays Jake Booth in crossroads and they seem ok. Now, who would be good is that fit lad from the HP brown sauce advert, anyone seen it? a gorgeous bloke comes home after walking his dog and makes himself beans on toast. ok so its ad, but who cares...
Is the Martin Kemp we are all supposed to be talking about. Not, the old man version, or the guy who has used to faulty face mutation.
Some people think he'd play the role well, others. well... dont. Its all up to everyone's opinion. Personnally i think he could play the role very well.
