Rob Lowe? Love him to bits in Austin Powers and The West Wing but James Bond? Something tells me he's not a good enough actorm to master an English accent.

And I know that this may not seem important to members outside the UK but you have to keep British audiences happy. They need someone who they can call their own... everyone in England loves Brosnan (most people, even though he is irish, think he is English). We're a people who are constantly being crushed by American and are hated by most European countries and it boost our ego to be the only country to have the secret agent with the brains, brawn and balls to save the world. Cast an American actor and the English will lose interest in the whole series. The UK brings in shed loads of money for the Bond series and personally the Brocolli clan and EOn would never cast an American (hopefully).

I know this thread is about who WE think individually should be the next Bond, so I appologise for the outburst there.

I think the next Bond should be...

1. Colin Firth
2. Hugh Jackman (isn't he from New Zealand? Or is it Canada... any how he'll become an honourary Brit as he is not American)
3. Jude Law

I think RUSSEL CROWE should be the next bond. Don't get me wrong, I think brosnan should do at least two more, but crowe could bring a sort of ruthlessness and fierceness to the character, sort of like the bond of ian fleming's books

Hugh Jackman is from Australia, I think an aussie bond will do ok, we've already have one. (though dont let him spoil it, an aussie would do really good! :-)

Yeah Ewan Mcgreagor would be ok, if he buffed up a bit, died his hair and waited a few more years....

He is quite a good actor.

I wouldn't mind seeing how Ewan McGreggor would handle the role. However, after Star Wars I doubt he'd sign for another long term 'fantasy' series.

Another actor I think could do a good job as bond in a few years is Alexander Siddig from Star Trek Deep space nine (Dr Julian Bashir).

Today's Sydney Sunday Telegraph [p100] has a non-story about who will replace Pierce whose"days as 007 are numbered" according to some gossip columnist called Darrell Giles. The usual suspects are trotted out - Crowe, Bale (who does look the part in the photo), Jackman and Jude Law who "has an ease about being a snob, which is an essential part of being Bond" says someone called Nathan Cooper of "style.com".
Only interesting part are quotes on why Crowe is inappropriate from Alistair Dougall, author of "James Bond;The Secret World".
I've not heard of this guy or his book. Anyone know anything?

I think Rob Lowe would be an awesome Bond...he has that Bond-ish look to him and plus he did a good job of playing "Number 2" in Austin Powers. lol

You can all forget names like Jude Law, Robbie Williams and Rob Low; none of these guys has ever been considered, nor will they.

Their names, along with Matthew Perry and Cuba Gooding Jr., have been put forth my the media to stimulate ridiculous rumours-- and get people like us to actually debate them seriously! Remember when Sharon Stone was considered to play Bond (!) a couple of years ago?

I think Rob Lowe or Ewan McGregor. Rob Lowe is a good choice for Bond since he played very well as No. 2 in Austin Powers. Ewan is also a good choice, but he should bulk up a bit.
