Bonnie Tyler Regrets Turning Down James Bond

Welsh singer BONNIE TYLER's biggest regret is turning down the chance to record the soundtrack for a JAMES BOND movie.

The HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO hitmaker, who recorded chart-topping hits throughout the 1970s and 80s, was approached to write a song for the 007 movies, when ROGER MOORE played the superspy.

She says, "My biggest regret is not recording a James Bond theme song after being asked."

Anyone know which Bond film in particular she may be speaking of?

I 'm afraid I don't. But I certainly wouldn't mind if she did. She would be great for a 70's or 80's bond film (as long as it was different from Holding out for a hero, though...)

Considering when she really got her start and when she really became popular and the genre of the themes used for the films, it would have had to have been A View to a Kill, IMHO.

There's also the possibility of her being full of . :D I think the only possibilities are AVTAK and Octopussy. Elaine Paige and Bassey were considered for Octopussy too so she could have been in that crowd. Tyler didn't really become popular till 1983, but that would have left mere months to write a theme in time for Octopussy's June debut.

What says a review of the AVTAK ultimate edition DVD:

<<The Music Of James Bond is a documentary taken from an old DVD release, this explains how and why pieces of music are used. Why various artists were selected to perform certain tunes. This is updated with a small section by Bonnie Tyler on why she was picked to perform the title song to Casino Royale, and why she turned down the offer in 1987 to perform the title song to The Living Daylights. For those of you that wonder and don't want to by the DVD the reason she turned it down before is because she noticed that popular artists disappeared after performing a Bond theme, and also that the more popular artists were "Far Older".>>

She may very well regret it.

I should think the rest of us - the music lovers at least - will breathe a very big sigh of relief.

No, she regrets turning down the chance for The Living Daylights - check out alan_more's post in this thread.
