I am surpised no one has mentioned "Deadlier Than the Male". Sounds cheesy, I know. It is only a little bit of a spoof, but it is mostly serious. And I may be incorrect, but I think the main character, Mr. Drummond, pre-dates Bond. Anyway, see this movie. Its fun.

While it wouldn't really classify as a spy film, I think Timothy Dalton fans would enjoy "FRAMED" - Dalton's almost more like 007 in that than in his 007 movies. Check it out!

"The Ipcress File" is one of my favorite Non-Bond Spy film. And it's quite the opposite of Bond.

I am quite fond of Ronin, or perhaps I'm just a sucker for car chases.

The Spy Who Came In From The Cold and the original The Manchurian Candidate, although I'm not sure if that really counts as a "spy" movie. (On a side note, I think Laurence Harvey would've made a good Bond.)

The original Manchurian Candidate is as good as the remake is bad. :)

I actually enjoyed the remake, but there certainly is no comparison. I don't think the premise of the remake is nearly as interesting as the original.

Austin Powers 1-3
Mission Impossible & Mission Impossible 3

From tv;

Alias
24 (if you count federal agents as spies)
X-Files (same as above)

Cant think of any more at the moment.

Anyone else a fan of David Mamet's SPARTAN? Great spy type authentic dialogue and an utterly ruthless and badass performance by Val Kilmer.

I'll definitely put The Bourne films and Ronin up there. Don't know that this is technically a 'spy' flick, but 'The Conversation' is absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely! Robert redford is amazing in the role of veteran spymaster Nathan Muir. Another one I haven't seen mentioned is The Recruit with Al Pacino and Colin Farrell, or maybe I'm a sucker for Colin. who knows.

Not really a film, but nothing beats the BBC adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy for me.

My favourite spy film is probably The Ipcress File. I'm not sure if The Conversation counts as a spy film, but I'll vote for it anyway. :)

Movies: the Jack Ryan series, the Bourne series, and a classic - Across the Pacific with Humphrey Bogart.

TV - The Sandbaggers. With scripts so well written and realistic you'd think the writer was a spy (which some people thought he was as he really worked in military intelligence). The acting was also AMAZING, just without peer. I've mentioned the show before, and it's definitely worth mentioning again - it's available on DVD. Just a BRILLIANT British TV series from the late 70's.

I adore the movie "True Lies". I think it's great. Although a few distasteful elements stop it from being a classic.
I like the Bourne movies too.
Are the Jack Ryan movies really spy movies?

i've gotta go with a couple of previous choices;
'tinker, tailor, soldier, spy' & 'smileys people' (bbc tv) i rate right up there, brilliant if cold war realism's your thing.
'the conversation' is a dark, claustrophobic & paranoid classic.
sticking with the this theme 'all the presidents men' ok, not quite a spy film, but another absolute classic (& quite possibly my favourite movie ever)
more recent 'syriana' & the 'bourne' movies were pretty good.
as far as spoofs go, 'austin powers' nobody does it better!

In no particular order:

The Fourth Protocol (even if none of the Russians have Russian accents)
Ronin
The Ipcress File
Notorious
North by Northwest
The Tailor of Panama
Hunt for Red October
Patriot Games
Clear and Present Danger
No Way Out
Mission Impossible 1&3
Where Eagles Dare
Bourne films
Sea Wolves (kind of one)
The Guns of Navarone
Flint (yeah I know) :)
Matt Helm (yeah I know) :P
Spies Like Us :P ("mind if I play through")
Austin Powers

My favourites are Telefon with the great Charles Bronson, and Billion Dollar Brain. I loved the insane commie-hating redneck in that one, reminded me of Rupert Murdoch (I know he's not a redneck).

Does Who Dares Wins count?
