I actually enjoyed the remake, but there certainly is no comparison. I don't think the premise of the remake is nearly as interesting as the original. The original Manchurian Candidate is as good as the remake is bad.

Mission Impossible & Mission Impossible 3

Cant think of any more at the moment.

Spy Game - with Brad Pitt and Robert Redford
Ronin and Bourne Identity are up there too
Absolutely! Robert redford is amazing in the role of veteran spymaster Nathan Muir. Another one I haven't seen mentioned is The Recruit with Al Pacino and Colin Farrell, or maybe I'm a sucker for Colin. who knows.

My favourite spy film is probably The Ipcress File. I'm not sure if The Conversation counts as a spy film, but I'll vote for it anyway.

TV - The Sandbaggers. With scripts so well written and realistic you'd think the writer was a spy (which some people thought he was as he really worked in military intelligence). The acting was also AMAZING, just without peer. I've mentioned the show before, and it's definitely worth mentioning again - it's available on DVD. Just a BRILLIANT British TV series from the late 70's.

I like the Bourne movies too.
Are the Jack Ryan movies really spy movies?

'tinker, tailor, soldier, spy' & 'smileys people' (bbc tv) i rate right up there, brilliant if cold war realism's your thing.
'the conversation' is a dark, claustrophobic & paranoid classic.
sticking with the this theme 'all the presidents men' ok, not quite a spy film, but another absolute classic (& quite possibly my favourite movie ever)
more recent 'syriana' & the 'bourne' movies were pretty good.
as far as spoofs go, 'austin powers' nobody does it better!
