Not saying Brosnan will leave anytime soon, but I've read at several places(CB.NET included) that Samantha Bond will leave when Brosnan does.

This is kind of disapointing, as I like Samantha Bond, and I feel having her in the film will help introduce whoever the next Bond is.

From the Absolutely James Bond site:
http://www.ajb007.co.uk/index.php

13/03/2002 - Samantha Bond on Moneypenny

"To be honest, it wouldn't matter who the new James Bond was - it's either Pierce or I'm simply not doing it any more. Nobody could match him."

It's not the first time she's made that statement. Unlike Lois Maxwell she works quite a lot outside of Bond. Check her out on the IMDB, she does lots of lead TV work for the BBC. Maybe she wants to go out on a high note and doesn't want to try out a new dynamic with a new Bond. And maybe a lot of the fun of doing the role is doing it with Pierce. All I can say is that she has great taste . ;-)

that's too bad. I really like her, and would like to see her cary through and introduce vereybody to the new bond actor. Make it seem like usual. You know, like Lois Maxwell did.

Who would you chose for Moneypenny's replacement, maybe an American actress. Lois Maxwell was Canadian, and it would be interesting to see an American play the part.

I too would like to see Sam Bond stay.

But she has been saying since before TWINE was released that she'd go when Pierce finishes.

Shame.

I like her as Moneypenny (and with a last name like Bond, how much more appropriate can you get?) but it kind of makes sense that she would leave with Brosnan. The actress (whose name escapes me at the moment) who was in the two Dalton films only did those, and departed after he left, as well. Besides, if she stays for too long, she'll end up looking like Lois Maxwell in AVTAK.

I can imagine the headlines:

"TWO BONDS GONE...BUT ONE WILL BE BACK"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or... "Still no change with Moneypenny".
Type casting is a bad thing, and if SB stays with Bond for too long, she could get type cast that way.
Also, she does do a lot of work outside of Bond, but not outside of the UK. Perhaps if she leaves with Brosnan, she still has time to have a career that can seen in the US, and I for one, would love that.
Let's just take this one step at a time, OK.
You know, I don't think it's such a bad idea for Sam to leave with Pierce. There needs to be a similarity in age between Bond and Moneypenny, or the relationship would feel funny. Think about it: George was a few years younger than Connery when he took over, but Sean was still only in his thirties, so Lois Maxwell in her thirties and George at 29 was not a stretch. Then Roger comes in, actually a bit older than Connery, so the age differential stays correct. When Pierce moves out, he'll be in his early-mid fifties. While I don't know Samantha Bond's age, (anyone?) she can't be too much younger than Pierce, but the new Bond will likely be quite a bit younger. Therefore, I don't think it'd be a bad idea to have a new Moneypenny close to the age of the new Bond.
Lois Maxwell was 42 in OHMSS, with Lazenby being 30. Still, Maxwell aged well and she was believably young enough to be flirting with him. Roger was born the same year as Maxwell so their ages were always consistent.
Samantha Bond was born in 1962, making her as old as the film franchise and about 10 years younger than Pierce. Caroline Bliss is just a year older than Sam Bond and was 26 in The Living Daylights, Dalton being 41 at the time.
I think Samantha is great as Moneypenny and plays off Brosnan really well, but like most people, I'd like to see her leave when Brosnan does - purely so that it won't be dilluted when the next (younger) Bond steps in.
For the next Bond (hopefully Brozzy will do 21 and 22), I'd like to see an actress the same age as "whoever" takes over the tuxedo, and someone yuo'd say "yes, I could see Bond being attracted to her".
I agree with James, although I wouldn't like it to change over too often, like one person plays Bond for only three films then leaves, it doesn't quite make sense! You would have to go in search of a Moneypenny and Bond, both would need to be compatable on screen or else you have a blunder on your hands! And we don't want that! If you see what I mean.
Well this is not--by far--the worst decision an actor in a Bond movie made. Good ol' Georgie still holds that record. ;D
If she does leave when Brosnan leaves (and it's probably a sensible decision, though I'd be sorry to see her go), I hope that her last film will give her a much deserved larger role.
She has been criminally underused so far, and some of the lame double entendre dialogue she's had to spout has been an insult.
I hope she won't leave when Brosnan does. I don't really know why she would though, Lois Maxwell hung around with three Bond actors.
I hope she doesn't. It's not like she'll be put through a hardship to act her ten lines for another actor. I agree with her helping to bring in a new Bond.
Lois Maxwell cartainly seemed more like the 'Penny' of the books, but she certainly looked old in AVTAK, but not older than Rog. :)
