As part of being members of CBn (and Bond fans in general), we've all seen and heard Craig torn to pieces in the gossip magazines about his inability to drive a stickshift, his lack of knowledge of poker, his bad acting skills, etc.

So lets put ourselves in Daniel's shoes and see how we'd feel if we were being badmouthed in the papers.

On the flip side of that, though, picture being a lifelong fan of the James Bond franchise, and you've been chosen to portray your hero (who you've grown up watching on screen) by EON. How do you feel?

How does it all feel?

Screw 'em.

Seriously, I think that's what Craig's real attitude is deep down, and that's what mine would be. I'd rather give it my all and try to go down as the best Bond ever in the best Bond film ever, but only have it be a one-shot deal, than worry what a bunch of loud-mouthed second-graders think while trying to appease them.

In other words, throw caution (and anxiety, and formula, etc.) to the wind and let the chips fall where they may. Bond wouldn't do it any other way.

I'd just go for it if I was him. It's a dream job but you can't please everybody. Let's hope he gets to do good scripts that keep his interest level high for years to come.

It would be no fun at all to read the rubbish printed in the rags, but that's part of the job of being a film actor. Everyone knows that going in. I think Craig has handled the media crap better than I would have. He was a bit lame in the first press conference, but that was a poorly conceived and executed affair all around, so he can have a pass for that one.

As far as his portrayal, we shall see. All indices are that he's a cracking good Bond. Can't wait for November.

I agree that one just has to go for it, diving in headfirst and channeling one's inner 007. It'd be so fun to be able to do it.

If I was Daniel Craig I wouldn't give a monkeys about any criticism. He's $6m richer, his profile has increased by 100%.He's in a no lose situation. The people who have something to lose are Eon.

Yep, something like that.
The first press conference did indeed go a bit wrong, but I gladly see he's more and more confident and at ease during PR.
Suddenly, Daniel Craig got a lot more known and talked about. He already gained something. And, besides Bond being a dream role, it's his gateway to movie History.

A place in History, even a humble one - not many better rewards than that.

I simply wouldn't read the rags. None of it has been particularly scathing, mostly total nonsense and lies. Why bother with it?

As others have pointed out, I would have millions of dollars, a long line of waiting women, and an incredibly high profile. All of which leads to more and more of said things.

(Oh, and being short and blond haired isn't much of a stretch anyway)

Although eveyone is entitled to their opinion I don't think he deserved/s to be slatted as much as he has until critics have at least seen thefirst film Casino Royal and then they can b*tch all they like.

I've tried to counter the criticism he's received....

The site is unfinished and will evolve into a "Craig as Bond" resource.
