The word is that the ending of Casino Royale has been restructured, possibly to incorporate "The bitch is dead" for the final line.

What repercussions could this have for the Mr White character? In the original script, we know he is taken down by Bond...so could he be returning in a Blofeld role like some had speculated a while ago?

Man, I loved the way the film ended, it could have been a classic scene that would rank up there with Connery's introduction in Dr. No. Shame

Well, in the December draft, I love the ending. It's fun and trumpets the arrival of James Bond in a wonderful way.

However, would I at all complain if the film ends with "The bitch is dead now" as said it would by Campbell in early March? Not at all. That would only fulfill the Fleming-lover in me, and already the Fleming-lover is going bonanzas with this film. After being deprived of Fleming for so long, it's like CASINO ROYALE is on Fleming overload.

I think it boosts the testosterone in most of us - it's great to see proper masculinity restored to the Bond films.

Initially I was all in favour of Fleming's line being the last...it had to be. But after reading the script, I was equally happy with the revision. So it's no-lose I guess. It does beg the question of how much tinkering they've done to the draft some of us read. Does Mr White escape to fight Bond another day? Is Leiter's character expanded?

Although I haven't read the script, I got used to what I heard(which is very little) was the ending and was looking forward to it, especially what I heard of the scene with Mr. White.

I didn't really care for the ending. The last bit was good, but everything involving Vesper was just a travesty to the novel and Fleming's work. I'm mainly concerned with the cheap discussion thrown in between Bond and M to sum it all up rather than something along the lines of the letter from Vesper that was in the novel. It's hard to adapt that, but the way it all went down was just stupid as it pretty much sold out the character; specifically, passages from the novel in which she tells him that he may try and save her life, but she can't bear the look in his eyes, knowing what she had done and that killing herself allows her to go out on a high note with memories of him (oblivious) in love with her. They shamefully gutted that.

It read like a John Gardner ending to be honest. Short and rushed with an age-old device to conclude it all. Not like Fleming.

I'm glad it's going through a couple revisions to clean up this ending.

I think this is why some of us shouldnt be reading movie scripts before we see the film. We get used to the way it is and get disappointed if it's changed, this has actually happend to me a few times before...the end product not matching what I was lead to beleive it would be.

After James says "My name is Bond, James Bond" in the final scene, Mr. White could cower away telling Bond that he will let the girl and him live happily ever after. Bond could say "The bitch is dead now" and rais his gun and then the camera would scream away.

Yes - I quite like this idea :D It would require a small change by removing the scene where Mr White views the aftermath of Vesper dying, but that's hardly a problem.

In regards to the ending, as I've already posted in the script review thread, I wonder whether there is any significance to the fact that Gettler is not on the cast list. It's been quite rightly pointed out that perhaps the cast is not yet complete, but we can always speculate that this means there has been a drastic overhaul of the last segment of the movie script!

It would provide a better "hook" for Bond 22 if White is still at large.

As for Vesper, the novel ending is probably the better way to go.

wow I really like british chaps idea! I am deliberatly avoiding the script cause I want to be surprised (as much as I can be anyway) but from what I read here, it sounds like the ending might not be as faithful as I'd hoped. I have to say that Casino Royale relies entirely on the emotionally destructive conclusion, it made the book a classic and to have it brished over so easily kindda defies the purpose of the movie. as others have said before me, i hope this is ammended in the revised scripts, and I would be extatic to see British Chap's finale used!

British Chap and Jimmy Bond, where did you get all this info? Did you read the script somewhere? Are the final pages online somewhere? Since I'd love to learn more about the planned ending of the film!

Thanks!

Ha,Ha. Hey thanks. With this ending it would keep the gist of the movie ending with while keeping the emotion and final line of the book intact.

Le Chiffre, I know these things because I read the script! :D
