Well done Admiral - Oddly, I had just changed my password in the last 24 hours and my Norton system does a full auto scan on Mondays and Fridays. I've suffered no ill effects, but my sympathy to any here at CBn who have.

One of these days, one of these "super hackers" is going to be executed on live TV worldwide. It'll send a message.

Hopefully, I'll get to be one of the trigger men. Anyone care to join me? I'll pay for your ammo and the pints afterwards.

Again, well done Admiral.

Count me in.

Yesterday I went to show my sister the Casino Royale trailer, clicked the link here that takes you to the official page, but it crashed my computer. This may have been a coincidence, or it could be another one of the hackers viruses.

Did anyone else have trouble accessing CBn last night (7-11 PMish EDT), or was my internet connection just being a pain?

I had trouble last night, got the message this morning. Fortunately my Norton Antivirus is on automatic at all times and I do a full system scan every night. Thanks for the heads up, Admiral.

A quick update - although Norton caught the Trojan, anyone using the Hijack This tool to scope through what has been dumped on your computer will still see a couple of lines pertaining to this virus.

Lines 018 and 020 show that there is a logon alarm that goes back to the perpetrator - although if the virus has been caught then it would appear redundant.

Anyone wanting any further info, please feel free to write back otherwise, just download the latest version of HJT and post the log on a computer forum - I recommend http://forums.techguy.org/

If however, you're confident to run through the log yourself, herewith a decent crib sheet at, http://www.spywarein...ogtutorial.html

Cheers.

I did do that and my Firefox crashed out; but other than that I can see no ill effects. Does that mean I have it?

It caused Safari and Firefox to crash for me and I'm on a Mac, so just because it crashed doesn't necessarily mean you have it.

However - iIf you're running Windows though, it's best to run a scan just in case.

Aw, my computer was infected by a Trojan worm as soon as I looged on CBn. But it has been - let's hope it was ! - removed by the Norton anti-virus. I firstly thought there was something wrong with CBn.

Try running a scan with AVG just to be safe.

Well, no one answered about AVG

I don't use Windows so can't be sure - but from the way I'm interpreting Bondian, it should be fine.

Hi Ma' Lady.

Sorry. I missed this. :D

Yes. AVG will certainly get you out of trouble. However, you may need to removed the remnants this virus leaves behind.

Please see this thread for the fix.

Since removing these three files, the machine had been fine.

If you get stuck, please MSN me on [email protected], and I'll do my best to help you. :D

Cheers,

Ian

Hi,

Thanks for this - I was indeed one of those to suffer, although Norton picked it up and deleted it.

I was sent an email saying I'd received a card from some Hotmail address. I had accepted it (it was my birthday recently!) but saw that the file extension had a strange ending and deleted it - but not before Norton clobbered it.

I can no longer see Today's Posts though - is this a side effect?

Best.

Yes - an email was sent out as well earlier.

I just sent an email informing members of this.

Norton sounds as though it did it's job well.

Today's Posts just needs to be added again - it was lost when we did the upgrade.

Hey Admrial, I did not recieve an email about this. U may have to chck it out.
