I think that's a nice touch. Perhaps not at the very beginning but certainly somewhere the beginning of the film. It'll be a nice link and remind people that Bond 22 is a direct sequel to Casino Royale. You need elements like that to remind the audience.
There's a subtle reference to Vesper in Diamonds Are Forever when Bond first visits Tiffany and he skips a track on the record that is playing. Vesper means a lot to Bond.

Right after Casino Royale doesn't seem like he'd be rushing out to put roses on Vesper's grave.
I understand that Vesper meant a lot to him, but I think Bond 22 would be too soon for a Vesper reference.

I say save it for a later movie.

Not really. I mean I can somewhat agree you with, but technically in the novels every year Bond lays flowers at Vesper's grave until he meets Tracy. That's where he really breaks from the habit. It would be nice to have a small scene in Bond 22 or other references to him actually doing this until whatever will occur in this timeline to get him to stop. For the novels, it was Tracy, breaking from his strong stance of never getting married as he tells Tiffany Case in DAF and later thinks in "Quantum of Solace" among probably many other times (this is just off the top of my head).
I don't know. I'd have to see the movie though. They've stated that the film is rather faithful and that a good portion is a love story. So long as they don't bastardize the relationship between Bond and Vesper, then they should run with this idea (the script is one thing, the final product could be completely different).

I think this would only work if there was a strong connection to Casino Royale- perhaps a minor villain Bond doesn't get coming back. Maybe even the mysterious figure at the end of the book... Otherwise, it would be awkward (see DAF).
I think that Barbara Brocolli has already said that CR would be a follow up to Casino Royale and that its story would continue from where CR leaves off. How that will work, of course, I don't know because I know next to nothing about the script and how the movie will unfold.

It's one of the few I'm missing, I'm only kidding regarding the spoiler, I've been in the spoiler section a few times myself

if Bond 22 is gonna follow from where CR left off do you think the producers will base 22 on a fleming/benson/amis/gardener story or a fresh idea?
I really wish they'd use the Gardner/Benson stories as the basis of the future scripts. The "original" scripts of late have been so lame. Even if they don't follow the books to a "T", there is something about using the literary source as the core of the plot that makes it more than just a series of car chases, shoot-outs and one-liners.
And to tie in with another thread, it would be exciting at the end of the film to see "The End of Casino Royale, but James Bond will Return in NOBODY LIVES FOREVER (or whatever the book)."
I remember as a kid, when I saw what the next Bond film title was, I would rushed out and read the book version the enxt day to get psyched for it.
