I'd agree that OHMSS is probably the most faithful. All the early movies are pretty close though, bar YOLT!

On the whole, OHMSS. Brave of them to use the same ending as the book, too.

TB does come pretty close, though. If they hadn't skipped over a lot of the stuff at Shrublands (also seem to recall more interaction between Bond and Largo in the book), it would be nearly dead-on. Wasn't there also a cut scene from the film of Bond getting a tour of the Disco Volante, like in the novel? Although given that many people find the last third to drag a bit, might have been a bit of an endurance test if they had left those scenes in.

I may have already posted this, but I would say the most faithful adaptions are FRWL and OHMSS. In the former, they ended it a little different. The novel ended with Bond dying from a poisoned stab wound in the leg, whereas in the movie was the traditional Bond snuggling with the girl in a boat, although they weren't adrift. OHMSS fleshed out Bond's relationship with Tracy, and dropped the bit where in the begining he was visiting Vesper's grave.

I'd have to say OHMSS, and FRWL...they are the most faithful to the novels...

Yes, indeed.

There would have been no point in having Bond visit Vesper's grave since there had been no EON Casino Royale...people might have thought they were referencing the CR spoof from 2 years earlier!
