In the Fleming novels Bond drank Taittinger Champagne while in the films he drank Dom Perignon or Bollinger, do you think he should go back to drinking Taittinger in Casino Royale?

I'm a bit bored at the moment so heres a question for anyone thats interested

Either Taittinger or Bolly, Dom Perignon has become too obvious and really is not as good as the price suggests (Krug on the other hand).

This is trueThe choice of champagne will depend on which company ponies up the money to be featured in the movie.

As I become a bigger fan of the books it starts to bother me at the lack of respect the producers/writers/director seem to show for source material. The carless-ness of the Bond name being associated with any brand for "image" sake is a bit contrived and disrespectful...Fleming gave all the materials needed for a marketing dream without "trying" to advertise. Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a bashing post because so for I'm excited for almost all I've heard about CR so if they choose it or not won't stop me from seeing it and enjoying but I wish they would just take Fleming's words and put it on screen....But I guess Hollywood thinks their smarter.

I certainly hope the production decides to use one of Fleming's choices. It seems as though the constant excuse for not using anything from Fleimng is always logged under the "updating" or "enhancing" catagory...It get a bit old after a while. Please show me one novel where Bond where's a Omega watch? Or any other where he favors Brioni over any of his Savile Row items?

You are eminently correct, BlackFelix, my dear, as is RJJB.
I think Mr Fleming would turn over in his grave at the thought of Her Majesty's Agent wearing . . . Roman style.

A nice Taittinger is really nice, I've only ever tried Bollinger once and it was nice but nothing amazing considering the price. Never tried Dom Perignon but I've heard it's lost it's quality consistency the last couple of decades. Rather like some Havana cigar houses due to hype, increase in market and therefore over production and decine in quality.
It's usually some of the lesser hyped Havanas which are the best of current production batches, the same applies for wines and champagnes(generally).

In fact, the literary Bond drinks Bollinger in DAF and Dom Perignon in MR; and the cinematic Bond drinks Taittinger in FRWL. Still, you're right, Taittinger is his preferred champagne in the books, and Bollinger and DP in the films.
One hopes Craig's Bond drinks a wider selection of alcohol (and some various local beverages) instead of just ordering Martinis and Champagne all the time.
Hear, hear!
