I'm surprised no one's asked this really, so I thought I would

Personally I'd like him to do six (course I wanted Brosnan to do six as well, and look how that turned out).

If he's good, and I am satisfied with him as Bond, then I will want him to do as many as possible. If not, none after CR.

4 or 5. I don't want another short-term Lazenby/Dalton, but I don't necessarily want another long term Moore either.

I want him to do five with Casino Royale, The Property of a Lady, Icebreaker, The Man with the Red Tattoo, and finish out with Colonel Sun.

I'd like to see him stick around as long as Connery and Moore did. If I like his portrayal of Bond as much as I think that I will, then I would really like to see him do 6 or 7 Bond films.

He may be too old to do that many. Connery started at the young age of 32, but by his 6th, he looked a little too old. All the more so, Craig at 38 probably can't do that many.

At least three and no more than six. I think if Craig goes for seven or more, phenomenal as his performance may be, he runs the risk of being handed increasingly lackluster scripts.

Realistically, I don't see him doing more than five, and certainly being done by 2015, probably sooner. If all goes well and the quality of the films stay respectable, I'd be surprised to see him not exercise his option for a fourth, presuming he gets that opportunity in a reasonable period of time, say, by 2012.

If they return to the one film every other year schedule, I think that they could easily get 5 or 6 films out of Craig before he starts to age to the point where he couldn't continue in the role.

I like Craig a lot.So i want him to do at least 4 films.Max i want him for 5.But i fear in another 8-9 years,he might start looing very old and haggard.Even now he looks far more than his 39 years. He looks mid 40s.I never liked an old man jumping and fighting. It looks silly and as over the top as the sick CGI.

I dont want him for the fifth if in the fourth he looks tired and old.

Bond has to be young.

That's all my post was based on too, I'd hate to have him do one, or even two. But I'm not sure I'd like him to do "just" four either, I had really wished Brosnan did five. It's odd really, in my mind, four is too few, but five is just right. Does that seem weird to anyone?

No, I'm the same way. Five seems like the perfect number to me, spaced out every two to three years, so that any given Bond doesn't overstay his welcome or leave before his time, the search for the next Bond takes place every decade to fifteen years, and every generation has one or two Bonds to call their own. Better than the schizophrenia we've had since the beginning.

I like that way of putting it, that every generation should have its Bond.

I agree with both of you. Personally, I'd like Daniel Craig to do a minimum of three films and a maximum of five. Of course, that is now and without having seen him on film as 007. I suppose I could change my mind regarding Craig, but I think three to five films is a reasonable range--and of course the better the Bond, the higher the number of films.

His first movie is yet to come...
We don't know how good he could be and you're already dreaming about how many movies he has to play...
He signed for a three movies deal
Just wait to see at least his first outing, then talk about it!!!!!!

I think Craig will be Bond for the next 10 years. I am sure he will want to leave before he is fifty. Craig looks as though he will age well in the respect he will appear the same as 50 as he does now, but naturally age will affect his ability to do some of his own stunts. As they are already working on the next Bond we may get the follow up very quickly, (late 2007 will be pushing it but spring/summer 2008 is a possibility)then three year breaks for the third and fourth films to allow Craig to pursue other roles. Overall I expect they will make 4. I would expect that Craig has a similar contract to Brosnan. If Craig is as successful as we may anticipate there could be the same alleged problems with fee negotiation they had with Brosnan's 'fifth symphony'.

Is there an ideal number for a Bond era ? Personally I think 4 - enough for the guy to really make his mark, not long enough to get too old/tired in the role. Max 5.

Or maybe you think a longer run a la Connery/Morre is better?

Probably just the three - indeed the further we go with this series, I reckon people's attention span and the need for the 'next big thing' will preclude a change every trilogy.

Look where we are right now - there are already threads looking to Craig's replacement.

I think we'll see at least 3.
If we're lucky we'll get 4.
If we're really lucky we might get 5 or 6, but I doubt that.
Remember the days when we all thought Brosnan would be around for 6 though?

I'd personally like 5. 4 seems to be too little and 6 too many. So...

There's nothing wrong with speculation, and as it turns out this topic has turned into a lively debate. Isnt that what a message board is for? I really get tired of people who click on a thread with the sole intent of being an .

I'd like him to stick around for as long as he works well in ther role. On the other hand, given the a--ehole behaviour of certain 'fans' and elements of the press, I'd be amused if Daniel Craig was awesomely good in the role and everyone who attacked him apologised . . . then Daniel Craig stuck up two fingers at them an walked.

Then, when they go to see a Hugh Jackman Bond film two years later with an invisible car with an intelligent, wisecracking computer voiced by William Daniels, they'll realise what twits they've been!
