What will happen to Steven Obanno in the film?

Will Bond track him down? Will he be killed by US military while Bond is still recovering from torture? Or does he remain at large?

He'll reportedly be played by Seldina Balde, who is a martial arts champion, so that had me wondering if maybe he fights Bond at some point.

He might not. Obanno came off to me like he was "SMERSH" (in a manner of speaking) from the novel; i.e. once Le Chiffre fails to get the money back at the Casino, Obanno will be the one to kill him. From what I've read, it was Obanno's money that Le Chiffre loses.

I'm not so sure that Bond will track the source of the funds down. At least in this movie. He may return along with his associate or possible boss, Mr. White, in Bond 22. I don't know. Just throwing that out there.

Sounds reasonable that Obanno is the "SMERSH" person. I suppose if he stumbled upon Le Chiffre torturing Bond he might not know who Bond is and leave him?

This is a bit intresting.

If this proves to be the case in the finished film, should we consider Obanno's name being a bit inspired by the name Pearson gives the SMERSH killer in James Bond - The authorized biography of 007, that is Oborin!

Oborin - Obanno, Oborin - Obanno... hmm....

Probably not, but I find it to be a funny coincidence.

Makes senses.

Interestingly enough, in Pearson’s Bond Bio he names the SMERSH assassin from Casino Royale Oborin. The name Obanno is pretty close. I wonder if Obanno is the one who ‘saves’ Bond. Probably a stretch.

Also in Pearsons bio of 007:

Bond is sent to Greece to sink the Alexandria-registred ship Sappho. The ship suspected to be a gun-runner, turns out to be carrying arms and ammunition for the EOKA terrorists in Cyprus. It's captain is "a Syrian with the good, strong name Demetrios".

Isn't Alex Dimitrios in partnership with Le Chiffre, providing the world's terrorists with arms and ammunition (in the CR script review)?
