here's a list of what i've come up with so far:
- both Bruce Wayne and James Bond were orphaned at a young age
- very little background is given about the formative years of Bruce Wayne's and James Bond's lives
- both Batman and Bond use fancy, often futuristic gadgets
- both Batman and Bond drive special cars rigged with numerous gadgets
- James Bond seems to have a bottomless budget; Bruce Wayne is a billionaire
- both Bruce Wayne and James Bond are often seen at black tie events and are noted for their classiness
- Batman has to protect his secret identity and his secret hide-out; James Bond is a part of MI6 - "secret service" - with its own secrets to hide
- the stories for both Batman and Bond are always a case of good vs evil
- both Batman and Bond have been pitted against some truly "over-the-top" villains
- both Batman and Bond have been repeatedly placed in seemingly inescapable perils, and then had to use their wits (and often gadgets) to escape
- Bond has Q; Batman has Alfred or Lucious Fox (depending on what version of the story you go to)
- both series include women in diverse roles. the women in the Batman series seem to always be "independent women". they have jobs, and to an extent, they are very aggressive. at the same time, they seem to always end up in perilous situations from which Batman must save them. at once, they are both the liberated woman and the damsel in distress. i think the same can be said for women in the Bond series. they're always out there trying to get things done on their own, but yet, they always need Bond's help to get them out of bad spots.
- both Batman and Bond have been represented in books, comic strips, TV programs, radio shows, films, and various figurines and other merchandise over the years
- both franchises were started in excess of 50 years ago, and have evolved over the years
- both Batman and Bond have been portrayed in varying incarnations, from campy to deathly serious
- the first cinematic Batman was played by Lewis Wilson (The Batman, 1943), who was Michael G. Wilson's biological father (Dana Broccoli's first husband)
- Adam West was approached to play James Bond after Sean Connery stepped down
- although Batman was created 14 years before James Bond, Adam West said in a 1966 interview that "Batman is a projection of James Bond, only more far out."
- in episode #39 of the 1966 Batman TV series, the villain was The Minstrel. in the opening minutes of the show, The Minstrel announces on TV that he was running a "protection agency", and he says: "Make your checks payable to account number oh, oh, seven and mail it to the Broccoli Bank..."
- in 1966 there was apparently a little known film called James Batman; a plot summary on xoomer.virgilio.it says "Batman, Robin and James Bond join forces to battle an evil warlord who is holding the world to ransom with a nuclear weapon"; here is the IMDB page about this movie, though it also doesn't have much info available
- writer Paul Haggis has openly admitted that the script for CR '06 has been strongly influenced by the success of Batman Begins
- 1989's Batman is widely considered to be one of the grittiest Batman movies to date; Licence To Kill was released the same year, and is also considered to be one of the grittiest Bond movies to date
- Del Baker did stunts in OP, AVTAK, and TLD, and he played a hood in Batman (1989)
- Christian Bale was touted by many as a favorite "candidate" to be the 6th 007, and these pictures from Batman Begins were used to show that Bale would look good as James Bond:
