In a British newspaper it says that Sid James auditioned for the role of Bond in 1962 and have uncovered a tape that shows his audition opposite Barbara Windsor as Honey Ryder?? and Kenneth Williams as M??

Personally I think this is a hoax, an April fools joke, but what do you guys think??

Personally I think this is a hoax, the screen test was probably a test for Carry On Bond - Austin Powers style spoof, which would explain the presence of his Carry On costars but what do you guys think??

No, this is absolutely true. Sid James performed in two screen tests for Dr No. The first was the famous beach scene. Just as Honey (Barbara Windsor) emerges from the sea, singing Underneath The Mango Tree, her top flies off. The second scene was with Kenneth Williams as M. Obviously this was an ealier draft of the script, as M chides 007 about the size of his 'weapon' and brings in the armourer (Matron Boothroyd played by Hattie Jacques) to increase his calibre. Coincidentally, the screen tests were also filmed on April 1st.
