So you gun experts...check out the screen cap below and you tell me what the heck gun Bond is using?

Not the PPK. Not the P99...

You could be right about it being a Browning though.
However, he definitely has a P99 or maybe a P99C in some of the other pictures we've seen.

It'd be kinda cool to see Bond carry a Hi-Power, at least momentarily, but honestly it's probably just a Colt .45 (or derivative thereof) he snatched off some dead bad guy because something happened to his P99.

No doubt about it. The SAS still use them.

He is using his P99 earlier on in the same scene(s), so I am guessing he runs out of ammunition (nice if he does - realistic!) and has to take a pistol from a guard in the Embassy perhapse.
You can also see Mollaka carrying a pistol in some photos, so he may take it from him.

It's a single action automatic which tends not to be used too often these days, but it has the advantage of a short trigger pull which means once loaded, the user can pop off those 13 rounds VERY quickly.
They say the only criticism of it is the hammer's tendancy to bite the hand of the user when firing. But then again, the PPK does that too!
Cheers,
Adam

I dunno. Nothing beats the PPK. Anything else just looks like he's borrowing someone else's. Bond had a PPK, Callahan had a .44 Magnum, Riggs had a 9mm Beretta...just part of the character.

Yes, in all the official promotional pics (even the ones from this Madagascar chase) he's holding the P99. Yet in all the Madagascar on set footage he's holding this Browning. But as suggested above, it could be that he takes it off the bad guy.I wonder if that's actually the gun he'll be issued, or if circumstance provided him with the piece. Did we ever establish what gun he's seen holding in the promo shot with the tux? Is that a P99?
Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Craig use a different gun. I really hate the P99 for some reason.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bond go to a Colt or a Browning, and if he wanted something that really hit, but was also concealable, then S&W has their Chiefs Special, which you can get in higher calibers...or even their .40 and .45 Tacticals.

I don't like the P99 either. I've had the chance to shoot one and it's just...bleh, I dunno...I can't explain it.
I'm the same way!!!!! I just didn't like it...

The beauty of the Browning HP is that it packs 13 rounds, has a universal acceptance of all known 9mm ammo, a wide ejection port and retractor to fling the brass clear and (while being a single action) the short pull makes it as quick and as deadly as a double action auto. Also, the "bites the hand" bit (true of the PPK as well) can be avoided with diligent practice and a proper grip and stance. I'd trust my life to either the HP or PPK without a second thought...excluding my target that is.

I've used and carried my HP for years and it's still a slim, controlable weapon. Perfect for a former SAS man....If that's to be believed from what we've gathered thus far.

But Benson says in the novelisation that is a Browning Hi-Power... at least in the Spanish Translation.
Just because it's in the novelization doesnt mean it is in the movie.

Here is a picture of one of my customized Hi Powers. It is one of my primary carry guns, although my full house Colt Officers is my carry gun 90% of the time.

Nice piece SA007 - Have you had the trigger reworked?
Someday, some way, we really should get on the range together.
Can't go wrong with a good HP though.

I don't much care for the title of "gun nut".
Truly, I'm not offended, but all these threads that start out discussing guns or Bond's guns seem to degenerate into such alligations against those of us that have served, trained or simply enjoyed shooting as a sport. Not hunting, not walls filled with guns, just being able to place some bullets in a specified pattern on a paper target.
I'm knowledgeable on the topic and experienced, and if you've ever been 21 at three in the morning walking around the docks of San Pedro wearing a rent-a-cop uniform with a flashlight, a piece of iron on your hip is reassuring.
Besides, guns are a part of Bond - if Craig doesn't like them in real-life, it's his choice, but as an actor - it's merely a prop to be utilized - and done safely under professional supervision.
Hey, we're Bond nuts in the eyes of many, but your choices - as a fan, as a man - are your own.
Sorry to rant, but it irks me from time to time.
Could I drop the hammer on someone with myself or family or loved ones being threatened in a similar fashion?
Absolutely. No second thought or a nano-second of hesitation. Could I live with it? Ask me after it happens.
That's me. I enjoy firearms. Again, my choice.
So.....
Craig's utilizing a Browning HP of some sort in the still Zencat provided and I believe it to be a pistol picked up along the way - Not a standard issue, but if the reboot applies an SAS history, I suspect that would be his weapon of choice. Still wouldn't mind the PPK making it's appearance as a light/casual carry for our newly minted 007 as it were.
