Shirley Manson works with David Arnold on solo album

Garbage singer Shirley Manson is working on her first solo album.

Manson told Billboard.com she`s keeping the schedule for the project open-ended and has decided to just have as much fun as possible doing it.

'I`m sort of sick of timetables, to be honest,' she said. 'I just want to live my life a little freely and not adhere to any schedule -- just make music and have fun.'

She went to London last week and cut a track with David Arnold, her collaborator for the theme song of the 1999 James Bond film 'The World Is Not Enough.'

'It was really quick and fast and it was really good fun,' said.

Garbage is on an indefinite hiatus but the band has not split, she said.

'We`re still together, absolutely. We all feel like we want to go off and do a variety of things,' she said. '(Drummer) Butch (Vig) is going back into production and some other guys are working on film soundtracks.'

I'm a big Garbage fan, and I like some of Arnold's work. This could be interesting.

I'll definitely be watching to see what results from these two. I'm fond of their The World Is Not Enough title song.

Hmm. Wasn't wild about the TWINE song. Would've been better with Bjork singing it, I reckon. Play Dead remains one of the great Bond themes that never was!

I really like Garbage, but felt they just weren't right for TWINE.

I've been a big fan of Garbage since first hearing "No. 1 Crush". I think their Bond tune is serviceable. It's nice to hear Shirley liked doing it. Their last album was kind of a big "meh". I used to go to their site for info, but they started charging for it. Thanks for the memories.
