http://commanderbond...es/3136-1.shtml. There ya happy but if you were a true bond fan they could easily remake Never Say Never Again coz it was not made by MGM it was not official bond film.

Never Say Never Again was an official Bond film when it was made by MGM and EON back in the 1960s and titled Thunderball. NSNA is a remake of TB with the exact same plot line, but with changes to a few of the characters. Other than that, same movie, but updated to fit the 1980s.

Dude, you have failed to understand what Barbara Broccoli was saying. Read the article again and again until it sinks in.
(Or shall we just cut to the chase and close this thread)

She is not talking about a remake of Never Say Never Again - she's saying 'never say never' to the idea.

I don't even understand why anyone would want to remake Never Say Never Again. Not that it was a bad film, but if they were to remake that, it would be the end-all for all of this Hollywood remake business. As far as I know, that would be the first case of a film being a remake of another film that was itself a remake. (The proposed "Never Say Never" as a remake of Never Say Never Again, which, of course, was a remake of Thunderball).

"Live and Let Die" - the Moore version was relatively faithful, and LICENCE TO KILL swiped the bits the film didn't use. A very cringe-inducing book in places, given the subject matter, and I doubt that they'd want to "go there".
"Moonraker" - yep, they could definitely make a more faithful version.... but why would they want to? Nazi villains - well, that sort of thing went out with Gardner. Dated as hell, and a bit of a bore to boot.
"Diamonds Are Forever" - again, the Eon version strays from Fleming; again, rightly so. What's here that's crying out to be "done properly" onscreen? Very little, says I.
"From Russia With Love"/"Dr No"/"Goldfinger" - why even attempt to improve on three films that 99.9% of people see (with quite a bit of justification) as pretty much FilmBond Perfection? And the Eon versions are also about as faithful to the novels as possible.
"For Your Eyes Only" - some short stories; possibly a bit of "stuff they could use" dotted about, but I don't reckon there's another film called FOR YOUR EYES ONLY in the pipeline.
"Thunderball" - the likeliest of the lot so far for another remake, if only to thumb the Eon corporate nose at McClory. But, nah, it's been done to death.
"The Spy Who Loved Me" - even if they were somehow able to use Fleming's plot, why bother? People would wonder where Jaws had got to. A very ill-advised choice for a remake.
"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" - as with FRWL, "Dr. No" and "Goldfinger", why even try to improve on (perceived) perfection? How could another version be any more faithful to Fleming? And why even go near the notorious "the one that flopped"?
"You Only Live Twice" - okay, some real potential here, but even so we'd be talking a CASINO ROYALE 2006-style updating of and adding to the original Fleming material, so what price fidelity to Fleming, eh? Would only really work as an OHMSS followup.
"The Man With the Golden Gun" - a brainwashed Bond? A showdown in Jamaica with a Cuban hitman and some American gangsters? Okay, there's something there, but, again, Fleming's book is too scrawny for a full-length feature - they'd need to add African warlords, scuba diving sequences and so forth. And Joe Public would wonder why, of all the possible titles to remake, Eon had chosen to do a new version of "that early Roger Moore and Christopher Lee one that was one of the really rubbish ones".
"Octopussy & The Living Daylights" - doubtful. Although perhaps we'll one day see a film called 007 IN NEW YORK (with that tantalising ghost of a storyline fleshed out by Purvis and Wade).
In addition, the films DR. NO - DIE ANOTHER DAY remain astonishingly widely-viewed, and any remakes would invite damaging comparisons with films that are still very much "out there".... as well as accusations of barrel-scraping (not that such accusations would exactly be a first as far as the Bond series is concerned).
So I seriously doubt that we'll ever see, say, Daniel Craig in LIVE AND LET DIE or FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, or Julian McMahon in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER or THE SPY WHO LOVED ME....

Tdalton, I would hate if they ever remade NSNA. But, they have remade other remakes in the past. "The Postman always rings twice!" ..anyone? Can't tell you how many times that has been remade!
I wouldn't be happy about it either. It's already a remake, anyway, so why bother?

Just recently finished reading this one for the first time, and I rememember thinking how the brainwashing stuff at the beginning would make for a cracking PTS (even though it might not make any sort of sense in the Film Bond world, given the events that lead up to it in the novels). Even still, the majority of the stuff in the novel is still usable for a film, except for the sugar cane and drug smuggling schemes-kinda blah for a Bond movie, isn't it? But change the title and Scaramanga's name, add in some of the stuff you describe to beef it up for a 2-hour fillum, and Joe Public probably wouldn't know any better. Dunno, could work. Perhaps I've missed the point, though. I'll get me coat."The Man With the Golden Gun" - a brainwashed Bond? A showdown in Jamaica with a Cuban hitman and some American gangsters? Okay, there's something there, but, again, Fleming's book is too scrawny for a full-length feature - they'd need to add African warlords, scuba diving sequences and so forth. I'm going to write to EON right now and ask them to update LALD, but take out the VOODOO and the Gold coins, but keep the black angle by using Mr B.I.G. GANGSTA RAPPER and GUN RUNNER, could also do a bit of COKE dealing on the side.
I would ask them to update Moonraker, but they already made Die Another Day.
They don't seem to put much faith in listening to these fan ideas, though.
