I always believed they never produced an uncorrected proof copy for CR... Great price too Wonder how many copies are (still) in existence!

I saw this and I'm very suspicions of this "proof." The best Fleming experts will tell you there are no CR proofs and the seller here provides nothing to indicate (prove) that this is a proof edition. Why no pic of the copyright page? What this looks like to me is, at best, a first edition bound in leather -- which makes it of little collectible value because as we all know the real value in a CR first is the dust jacket.

At worst, this is a later edition of CR, which makes it only worth the cost of the custom binding...which is not something most collectors go for anyway.

Exactly my thoughts... The seller is also offering for sale a 1st edition of Pride & Prejudice (in three parts), an auction that does show pics of the title page(s)...
