Emma, try waiting until you see the guy playing 007 before you say he CAN'T do it. I think that so many people are being really immature and arrogant here.

Really, please read what I post. I never said he 'can't play' James Bond. Hell anyone can play a part. I said he was innapropriate for the part. As for immature and arrogant part. I find nothing more arrogant not to mention snobby people who make assertions that we are going to finally get 'a real' or 'a good' Bond film because Craig is in it. When we haven't even seen the trailer yet. The film just started shooting for heavens sake!

That was my point, you are saying he is un-able to play Bond well...YOU DON'T KNOW THAT until you see the film. That is arrogance. Don't be so bloody minded. How can you sit there like the expert on Daniel Craig's potential and spout off what he can and can't do? Put a lid on it until you can watch him and then judge his performance, like I will do. I am looking foreward to a new Bond and HOPING he will be good.

No I didn't. Those are your words not mine. I have never said that he can't play Bond I said he was innapropriate for the role. Anyone can play a part. I am sure that he can play Bond. Jack Nicholson can play Bond. It doesn't mean that he is right for the part.

One of the reasons I joined this board as opposed to other JB sites, because it wasn't as insular and devoid of elitism (ie. Sean Connery is the best Bond ever and everthing following is trash). All opinions were welcome. Sadly this board has become a Daniel Craig love in. Where anyone who disagrees with his being cast or suitability is called names. I don't mind people running to the defense of their favourite actor, but name calling and condescension is a bit too much.

Exactly my point in what we should protect against--it shouldn't just be pro-Craig and that's it. All opinions should be allowed without automatic attacks and dismissals. Debate everything without saying that one can't have an opinion beforehand--we all have opinions beforehand. Craig is now getting what Pierce, Timothy and the others get--pro and con. And NOTHING wrong with that.

Not to interrupt all the infighting, but could someone post a link to the pictures that this thread is supposed to be about?

All of the pics are removed and the thread seems to have slipped into another fight over Craigs charms or lack there of.

Barry Nelson played Bond in the 1954 TV version of Casino Royale, but I would hardly call him my first choice for the part

Oh my life.. wow! He checked his watch! Big deal! This really is scraping the bottom of the barrel now, why are the media so negative? It seems that everything Craig does is met with criticism, I feel so sorry for the guy, he can't even look at his watch now without getting collared...

Foreward comb-over...that's the best you Craig haters can come up with now? A comb over is hair combed over a bald head, that is a modern, cool haircut.

 :D How naive. "Modern, cool haircuts" have a way of looking funny 10 years later. The "classic" hair style is timeless. Like this:

I see nothing wrong with Craig's hair cut. Looks just as good as Sean's hair in those two photos you provied, which incidentally is a wig.

1- We are talking about a hair style for Bond not Connery. Connery may have worn a wig, but Bond didn't.

2- It's not two photos of Sean. The second one is Hugh Jackman. But thanks for confirming that Jackman should have been selected to play the next Bond. Not the Matt Damon wannabe.

You're point? Ok so he's no Sean Connery, so what? Few men are, he's a sight more ruthless than Moore though, who practically winked his way through his seven films. If any fan should be complaning about an actor ruining the character it should be Moore, he was as far removed from Fleming as you could get. Not that there's anything wrong with that, since Moore's films are great fun, and I love em all.

Not any actor could play Bond. Why the hell do you think they chose Craig over others. I'll tell you why! Because he has the qualities that the role requires, that's why. But really Emma, I'd like to know why you think Craig is inappropriate for the role? What do you base this opinion on?

In her defense I imagine she's seen Craig in a few roles and judged his abilities on those roles. In Craig's defense, he wasnt playing Bond in those films, and we really won't know how his Bond acts until we see him in the film.

You keep referring to Moore as if I liked him as Bond. While I loved him as The Saint I hated his Bond. Leave him out of our discussion. As for comparisons to Connery, nobody compares to him as 007. But we as avid Bond fans deserve to get someone closest to the standard he set. Check the 2 pictures I posted. Jackman was by far closest among the candidates. Even Owen was somewhat reminiscent of Connery. They had the same stature and can be loosely described in similar descriptions to him. Craig is a head shorter, which along with his looks and blondness puts him in the Matt Damon category which obviously EON, in their infinite wisdom wants to imitate. That insults my intelligence and should yours too. The least they could have done was to dye his hair dark. It would have taken maybe 3 packs of "Just For Men" for the duration of the shooting. A wopping $20. The whole thing is because [A] Mr Craig enjoys some sort of closeness with Babs and [B] They want to dig gold from Bourne's mine.

Frankly, I'm glad they didn't dye his hair. When he's had his hair dark, I don't think it's suited him. I think his hair color as it is looks great.

Fair enough, I won't bring him up anymore.

Why is it hard to believe I (and many others) feel we got this in Daniel Craig?

Craig is a head shorter,

Craig is actually 3 inches shorter than the three actors you mentioned, that's hardbly a big deal.

That insults my intelligence and should yours too.

That's your opinion. However it's not mine.

Connery's wig is indeed a timeless style - as it probably still exists somewhere. Maybe Craig could wear it in the Casino scenes?
