1967 - David Niven (Sir James Bond)

2006 - Daniel Craig

1954 - Linda Christian (Valerie Mathis)

1967 - Ursula Andress

2006 - Eva Green

Felix Leiter

1954 - Michael Pate (Clarence Leiter)

1967 - N/A

2006 - Jeffrey Wright

Rene Mathis

The 2006 version is no doubt going to be the best adaptation of Casino Royale.

Going to have to wait until I see the film really, but the previous two do not offer up much competition - and being unofficial further stacks the odds against them.

This thread is about looks not acting ability.

I think for the 1967 entry you should have put up Peter Sellers, since it's him who was actually James Bond in the casino scenes. As for looks, well I'll stick with Craig, I think he's a fine Bond, and I liked the Leiter from the 1954 film (even if he was British). As for Vesper, well as I've said elsewhere Eva Green captures the look that I had in my mind that I almost think the producers probed my mind to see who to cast

I love the 1954 version.

James Bond- Barry Nelson/Daniel Craig
Le Chiffre- Peter Lorre (nobody could top him)
Vesper Lynd- not sure yet (definitely not Ursula Andress)
Felix Leiter- Michael Pate was great (that rhymes) but Jeffrey Wright looks like he'll be good too
Rene Mathis- Giancarlo Giannini

I liked it too. It really showed me that Casino Royale could be done as a fantastic story. Seeing as how EON is pretty much keeping all the Casino sequences intact, it looks like the 1954 version is a good template of what the last hour of this new film will be like.

Those would be my choices too. Certainly IMHO Eva Green is perfect for the part of Vesper Lynd.

Then most likely Daniel Craig, but seeing the actual completed movie will be the true final test.

I rather enjoyed Sellers' and Welles' performances. It's a shame that Sellers' character didn't have more scenes in the finished film.

I'm looking forward to Giancarlo Giannini's performance as Mathis after seeing him in a small role in Hannibal.
