I thought that maybe "Mr. White" would just be the character's temporary name until it's revealed later in the movie that "Mr. White" is actually someone else who has a much bigger role.
I like the idea that Mr. White is Le Chiffre's superior and the head of the new SPECTRE-esk organization.

There was a Mr. White in Reservior Dogs too, next thing we'll know Tarantino will be out there again saying: "See this was my idea!"

Oooo... I hope they did that just to piss him off. The one thing I really liked about the script review is that it seems so anti-Tarantino.

I said I assumed it would be a coincidence, it would only be if it turns out the character is similar that I would suspect. Remember, Purvis and Wade at least are basically overgrown Bond fanboys looking for good ideas-who knows where they would turn in their attempt to churn out a good script. Even if Haggis rewrote it and others saw it, they could've kept a character they put in and they might not even realize where it came from. I'm not saying they did, but it's not implausible that they wouldn't.

It's extremely implausible. The last thing they would do is read fan fiction - for just the reasons you're talking about. Same reason why any spec Bond script is sent back unopened, so nobody can later claim they ripped the ideas off.

I was just thinking: perhaps this "Mr. White" is the role that Ludger Pistor was cast in.
Pistor's role is named "Mendel", according to the list.
There's still no "Mr. White" on it, as well as J

Who cares who or what he is ? As long as it's a new, SPECTRE like organisation, that will be the basis of the next 6 Bond films (because Craig will make 007), I'm happy. We really missed SPECTRE after DAF, and it's a big part why the Bond series took a low until Dalton came in and did fine, but ala without SPECTRE.

Well, re reading the novel, ATTENTION MINOR SPOILERS***** I believe the guy who arrives in the villa during the bond beat up, will be the same guy we will meet again in the sequel aka Bond 22.

Somehow I think it will be Obanno or one of his henchmen who finish Le Chiffre. It's either Obanno or Mr. White who will be returning in Bond 22.

There's still Act Three with the Vesper/Bond storyline and the "Third Man" like chases and suspense. They need bad guys for that.
I'm presuming that's a chase to get the money Bond wins from Le Chiffre in the Casino.

Keep in mind, if LeChiffre's end is like the novel, that's only the end of the second act.

Yes. Le Chiffre may be dead but from all indications Obanno should still be around and I'm willing to bet they are still very much interested in recovering the funds. And that also could be used to set up Vesper's reveal as a double.

They will raise the stakes to surprises us all. She will become a triple agent.
Maybe they'll have her working for MI6, Le Chiffre, Obanno and White.
