German newspaper: Ludger Pistor in Casino Royale
Popular German TV actor to play Swiss banker

A certain other Bond website has this casting news on the front page. It appears he's playing a secondary role, not the Le Chiffre character. He looks OK, good Euro-character-in-a-Bond-film material.

Ah. Interesting. This could help demonstarte my Le Chiffre twist theory. You see this actor is annouced to play a "swiss banker" and we don't know if he's good or bad and we do know he will be filming at all the major locations so he may be a large role. He could easily be actually Le Chiffre if they go with the code name angle for Le Chiffre that keeps you guessing as to who the main villain is. This is just a hypothetical situation.

Ludger Pistor?? Krapp?? What the...

Might be an interesting casting. He looks very much like the Swis banker type, but he usually puts a light-hearted not into his characters. More or less aTV actor (but that means nothing in Germany - they're all TV actors) His role as Krapp for which he's best known is a stiff awkward and slightly neurotic sidekick cop.

I think he is too light-skinned for Vesper. But not many of you will know that Pistor was in the Final Four, as Contact, Sky, The Sun and my dog keep telling me.

Indeed, I honestly thought the article was just an awkward way of saying that Bonds new gun would be the luger pistol before I realized I had misread it.

"Pistor will play "a Swiss Banker. That is quite a bigger role." In the first version of the movie, this was a main role apart from secret agent 007."

"In the first version of the movie"?! If this is reference to the supposed insider info about how they are now rewriting the script and turning it into an action film and cutting back on the characters and story I will be most upset!

Well, he looks the part. I liked him in Run Lola Run. Can't remember him in Schindlers List.

Take it with a grain of salt. This is a literal translation from the original newspaper story - and it's not an original quote from Pistor. Possible that the (probably clueless) guy who wrote the story got something wrong there (or wanted to spice it up a bit). We'll surely know more some time next week.

Interestingly, when doing a Yahoo serch on him, Yahoo asks "Did you mean

Well Ludger Pistor is a German actor. According to the eight-pages of script that Stax saw is there not a character named Kratt who will be one of Le Ciffre's associates. Could this be the role for Pistor?

I was thinking about this as well. Could be.

But: the role for which Pistor is best known in Germany is a guy named Krapp, an almost similar name. Could be considered a cheap move, even if it's not done on purpose.

Also, Kratt sounds a bit like "Kraut". That would be very cheap.

But then again, P&W managed to make Gala Brand "Miranda Frost"

Well, Krapp is the name of the character Pistor played in the series "Balko" which was cancelled after a very successful multi-season run. No way he will be called Krapp in CR.

Actually, Pistor is great casting! He is kinda weird looking, has a sheepish and cruel grin. A fantastic character actor in the tradition of Lenya, Froebe and Juergens.

Still think this is Le Chiffre, comedians can play very nasty bad guys, somehow they just bring it. I can totally see this guy torturing Bond (and not just with his standup act, lol). Should know soon...

Yep. "Balko" was running for more than 10 years and had 113 episodes. The final season (11 epsiodes) will start airing on February 16th. Pistor was in every episode, the actor for the titular character Balko was replaced at least once.

I really don't see him as Le Chiffre - but who knows...

Wait. What if the "swiss banker" bit is just a cover for this character. What if he is Mathis/Massus or the american agent?

Seems more possible to me rather than seeing him as Le Chiffre (as that has been suggested in a few threads).

Might he not simply be an almost irrelevant minor character who hands Bond the cash? E.g. Bond needs the whatever number of millions in cash to take to the casino - this swiss banker dude is the one who arranges the cash.

I assume he's a minor character, but with 4 or 5 weeks of shooting time, he might not be that minor. Again: I can't imagine him as Le Chiffre. That role would require more shooting time. And don't forget: he said he doesn't even know if he's a good or a bad guy. I assume that an actor would know if he was cast as the main baddie - and say so.
