I'd say go for Goldfinger to hear the Bond sound in its infancy and Die Another Day for the best of the recent soundtracks.

I would say The Living Daylights for a start followed by Thunderball...

As I've said before, I think it wouldn't make any sense to begin with anything else but FRWL because you should know where you come from. And everything in the Bond series boils down to FRWL; the big-bang gunbarrel, the title sequence, the Bond theme, the 007 theme, the exotic music, the explosive finale and a grand love ballad. FRWL features the roots of the Bond sound, which the following three scores expand.

I think it's essential that you have this great first experience, you know. Listening to TLD, YOLT or OHMSS before FRWL would be like reading the end of an Agatha Christie novel first and then go back to the middle section.
It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who generally doesn't know too much about the 007 music, and I think it's just too good to let it pass.

Well after reading all the replies to my thread, I've decided to take a chance, and bought the Thunderball soundtrack to start the collection.

You should be quite pleased with that choice, especially if you got the remastered version with the bonus tracks. Very nice!

I ordered it from Amazon.co.uk, it is in fact the remastered version with the bonus tracks.

It should arrive by tuesday, I think. And after this one, maybe I'll get another one, could be On Her Majesty's Secret Service one or The Living Daylights.

Enjoy, Agent 76. Easily one of the better soundtracks of the bunch and it benefitted greatly from the remastering.
