She's very pretty/sexy and I'm hopeful she could do a good job. Unfortunately, good looks and sex appeal doesn't exactly make a good Bond girl. There are a number of overwhelming examples for that. Halle Berry for instance. I also don't know her acting (films in which she played a prominent role), but as stated, I remain hopeful.

I think Byrne would make a very good Vesper, but Stirling would also be good. Do you think if Byrne is Vesper that Stirling may be offered another role? Some posts on other threads have suggested she could be a new Moneypenny. I know Moneypenny is not supposed to be in CR but it would not take a tremendous effort to write in a short scene between Craig and Stirling. Stirling is a talented but essentially little known British tv actress, like Samantha Bond was a talented but little known British stage actress. They share a Bond trivia connection in that Stirling's mother was Diana Rigg and the previous Moneypenny was Samantha 'Bond'. How many interviewers thought they were being clever or funny by bringing up how her surname was the same as the hero's? It would be good PR to include Stirling as the recurring character, she is about the right age to play Moneypenny for the next five or six years. This is of course if she is interested in the role. It would raise her profile and because the role does not take too much time to perform she would have plenty of scope to pursue other roles.
That's interesting. There were rumors that the script is still being revised. What if they are reworking it so there is Moneypenny and a bit more explosions and such.

Probably get shot down in flames but there has not been that many popular named stars in the series i can think of the following:Yeah, I know, what a joke. Interesting, though, for a Bond film. Not one name actor in the film. I can see Sony's marketing people pulling their hair out over this one
Telly Savalas
Sammy Davies Jr (Which was deleted)
Christopher Lee
Christopher Walken
Halle Berry
There has been a lot of B cast stars mind you , i suspose it down to what you consider as a named actor.

Her age really shouldn't be that much of a problem. In the IGN scoop, they reported that Vesper would be in her Late-Twenties to Thirties. Byrne is 26, but could pass for a solid 29.I think she would be nice as Vesper. Has the right looks, but possibly the age could be a problem, but that the producers decide.
It might not seem like much of a differcene, but one year in either direction could break the part. 28 could make her seem too young for the character of Vesper Lynd, and 30 might not work 'cause she looks a bit too young to pass for 30. It's really not that much of a problem though.
Craig is 37, but I figure they'll shed some years off of him to make Bond 34 or 35. After all, originally Bond was going to be 28 in the film and the Casino Royale job was going to be his first mission. Craig 28? No way. That's why I came up with the idea that Bond has been a MI6 veteran for six years as an operations coordinator but just became a Double-Oh three weeks ago after he assassinated a suspected terrorist in Italy.
