I always thought that a final showdown in the rain would be kinda cool, but also too cliche. It seams like something that should hold it's place it the literary realm.I'd like to see a 007 adventure where the finale in a violent storm/flood where Bond not only has to battle the villian(s), but also the elements.
I just watched "PATRIOT GAMES" on TNT. The final showdown on the ocean during a storm is so daramatic and suspensful.
Also, have you seen the movie, "HARD RAIN" with Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater? Not a great movie, but the whole concept of this deluge flooding a small town during a robbery really added a whole new dimension to it.
This is a bit off topic. Yes, the ending of Patriot Games is a great scene, the only problem is that it was obviously inspired by the ending of another Clancy thriller, Without Remorse. Now that Without Remorse is being given the Hollywood treatment, they might have to find another way to recreate one of the single most important events in Clancy's Ryanverse.
