I'd like to see a 007 adventure where the finale in a violent storm/flood where Bond not only has to battle the villian(s), but also the elements.

I just watched "PATRIOT GAMES" on TNT.  The final showdown on the ocean during a storm is so daramatic and suspensful.

Also, have you seen the movie, "HARD RAIN" with Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater?  Not a great movie, but the whole concept of this deluge flooding a small town during a robbery really added a whole new dimension to it.

View Post

I always thought that a final showdown in the rain would be kinda cool, but also too cliche. It seams like something that should hold it's place it the literary realm.

This is a bit off topic. Yes, the ending of Patriot Games is a great scene, the only problem is that it was obviously inspired by the ending of another Clancy thriller, Without Remorse. Now that Without Remorse is being given the Hollywood treatment, they might have to find another way to recreate one of the single most important events in Clancy's Ryanverse.

I'd like to see a return of Kamran Shah from TLD.

What happened to him since then?  Did he become a terrorist? (Since the "Afghan Resistance" against the Russians was in large part, the Taliban).  Shah's story mirrors alot of Bin Laden's background in Afghanastan.  Is he Bin Laden? Did Bond unknowingly help Bin Laden escape? Does Bond have guilt complexes about 9/11?

It would be interesting if he was a terrorist and his group captured 007.  What would Kamran do to Bond?  They had a kinship in TLD. There could be some great conflict between them. Does he end up letting Bond go? Are they bitter enemies now?

OR
is it the opposite: Is Shah part of the Afghan government "statesman" now, fighting Al Queda.

Anyway, for what it's worth, it could be an intriguing storyline.

Kamran (to Bond as he is going to kill him): I like you, James. Under different circumstances, we could have changed the world together. But you represent the British Empire and after all these centuries you're still trying to colonize the world. You're a dying civilization. I'm afraid your time has come and gone."

Bond: You and I both know you don't really believe what your preaching, Kamran. You've become nothing more than a glorified cult leader."

Karman: "No, James. I've become the right hand of Allah."

Bond: "Then maybe it's time to meet your maker!"

Bond leaps into action...

I always fancied seeing some action in the Arctic... big icy environment. A bit like the scenes in Iceland in DAD, but more extended, more real and not in Iceland. Something like villains lair in the antarctic. Would be a good excuse for a ski chase too.

Yeah... I always thought a good ICEBREAKER-style film would be nice.

On that note with ICEBREAKER, I think an unorthodox, Bond-part-of-a-team sort of Bond film would be really cool.

I'd like to see Bond in Belgium (Brugges?) drinking a good beer after a harrowing smartcar chase - complete with wheel realignment stunt - across the cobblestone streets and through the pedestrian crowded marketplace.

I don't have to hear him order the drink, just wanna see it.

I love Bond. I love good beer. And those from Belgian are the best.

But is it REALLY a reboot? I still wonder if they are going to set the film in a way that Fleming purists can percieve it as "the first mission" and the general filmgoing audience can see it as his "latest" mission. Are they going to actually say it's his first mission?

From all indications, CASINO ROYALE is a reboot. And there's even the indication from the IGN report that at the beginning of the film (as well as rumors that have been circulating),

Spoiler

But we'll see on November 17, 2006, won't we? Or maybe even as early as the first or second trailer.

I'm almost 100% certain that they will do that, yes.

Sorry, nothing to hand to cite to back that up, but I think they will indeed be making it explicitly clear that Bond is new to MI6 and that this is his first major mission.

I think Campbell's argument was that she's such a fine actress that it would be a shame to lose her.

What, there's no great male actors around to take the part of Miles Messervy? They should have just skipped her this time around and done a prequel if they wanted to make this Bond Begins.

Interesting. I had posted this exact idea before in another thread. And I do agree about the storm-flooding idea. Out of sensitivity for the tsunami victims this should not be done in the next few years, but I 'd like to see Bond scooba diving in a flooded city. Something like Tintin and the lake of sharks. And the storm could be used to stop the action: imagine, Bond and the villain in a chase, then a tropical storm starts and they both find shelter somewhere. Since they can do nothing to go on with their respective missions, they chat, or even help each other to survive. And then, after the end of the storm, they are enemies again... Something like the Bogart film, whose name in English I can't remember right now...

I really like the idea of returning to the Kamran Shah character in present day. Even with the reboot, I think this is possible. NewBond is former SAS right? While that eliminates the possibility of Bond being a Commander (a naval rank), it allows for something unique.

As a former SAS commando, he could have been [quietly] involved in the fading hours of the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. As such, he would have had contacts, and Kamran could have been one of them. M gets reliable information that he is now a threat and sends Bond to take care of it.

This would continue Bond's indoctrination into the 00 section, and also teach, for lack of a better word, that Queen and Country sometimes will force him to do things he doesn't want to. This would be a similar story to GoldenEye, I know, but I think it could work and would be VERY relevant to the current world situation.

pgram, are you referring to Key Largo?

1. I'd like to see a 007 not using nifty gadgets as a crutch during his missions.

2. I'd like to see him on a mission where he doesn't have time to visit MI6 and see the gang before ge goes off on Assignment. If 007 is a Secret Agent, will he always have time to visit Q Branch, partake in his customary byplay with Moneypenny & have a fully detailed briefing from the head of British Intelligence?

3. I'd like to see an Indian Bond Girl or a Hispanic Bond Girl

4. I'd like to see another SPECTRE type of Organization gain prominence in the Bond Series.

5. I'd like to see another 007 like The Problem Eliminator, Timothy Dalton.

6. I

I always thought it would be cool to have a Bond movie open with someone being assasinated in a restaurant, by a killer with a machine gun disguised as a waiter with a giant pepper grinder.

Or has that already been done?

Not in a PTS, I don't think, although that French guy gets it in the neck in one in AVTAK.

The pepperpot idea sounds fun, I must admit. And is the parmesan made of semtex?

I don't know what PTS stands for. As for the Parmesan, it's a form of cheese, which would result in a very slow death by cholesterol.
