Does anyone read the Sydney Morning Hearld, and did they read this article in Fridays edition.

You have to pay to read archival material on the site, but it starts off with.....

The first person to play James Bond on screen was one Barry Nelson, an actor who starred in the 1954 television version of Casino Royale (with Peter Lorre as the bad guy Le Chiffre). CBS, however, ordered that the British secret agent should be an American called "Jimmy Bond". It was a flop.


I'd be interested in a review of this article. :)

No I was just commenting on the fact that Barry Norman was in the Video of Casino Royale and that I had a video of it.

It was actually done Live! It's a complete reversal from the books, Bond, Jimmy Bond - is a Yank - Ahh! And Felix Lieter is a Brit - What The!

The funny part is at the end when Le Chiffe (Lorre) is shot and killed - he thought the scene was finished - and gets up!

So what are you saying? Is the article just on Casino Royale, or are you mearly commenting on the snippet I posted?
