Out talking about his small role in "Munich", actor Daniel Craig talked up his role as James Bond in the upcoming "Casino Royale" to MTV, saying "['Crash' writer] Paul Haggis has done a rewrite of the script and has written great dialogue. The lead girl part is fantastic, the characters are all fantastic. It's a Bond film. We're making a Bond movie first and foremost".
The 37-year-old star cites "From Russia With Love" as his favorite series installment, but says 'Casino' is "going to be very different from anything else ... it will have certain elements that will make it a Bond movie". That includes Ian Flemings;s source material - "There's a lot of similarities with the book but yes, of course it's been updated. It has to be. It's a suspension of disbelief that we're renewing Bond, and that this is the first time you see him." Finally, he admitted, "Yes, I could fail miserably, but maybe I can do something that's different and make the franchise last another 30 years -- as opposed to another three".
Meanwhile George Michael has been approached by the makers behind the new James Bond movie to record the theme song reports The Daily Record. A 'friend' of the star told the tabloid: "George is really chuffed that he's been asked to meet up with the guys behind Casino Royale. It's very low key at the moment, but the people behind the movie are very keen to make this work".

What lable is Michael with? Because the only thing I think we can say for certian about the title song is it will be performed by someone on the Sony/Columbia record lable.
Sony. Yes, he famously took them to court a few years back, but I think he's now back with them (I think).
Hmmm....
Michael has undeniably recorded some excellent stuff over the years (as well as a lot of rubbish). For me, by far the best thing he ever did was 1996's "Fastlove" - pure class, that track.

And now George Michael of WHAM! is brought into the equation, and that's okay? Cripes!

He definitely could do the crooner thing for CR.
It would be an interesting choice to get someone openly gay to do Bond - and it would work, IMO.
Then again, this is only a rumor. And didn

I suggested The Killers or Franz Ferdinand, and everyone laughed at me.

I don't think George Michael has been 'George Michael of WHAM!' for a number of years.
I think he's capable of doing a superb Bond song: his songs are often elegant, stylish, a little old-fashioned and mysterious. His song Safe, a B-side from OLDER, is quite Bond-ish, I reckon. Think of Bond's love for Vesper, and his thinking of giving it all up for her.
'Sweet thing
I know how strong I can appear
But your don't know the days
Since somebody loved me
You came
And led me through that door again
You say you want to stay
But you don't know me (no you don't)
You make me feel safe
Someday
My darkest fears will find their way
After all
Somebody loves me
All day
My heart tells strangers how I feel
And it's hard not to feel this way
When you thought your future was on prescription
You make me feel safe...'

I don't think George Michael should go anywhere near Bond or a Bond song.

what a load of crap. That song will never work!
Why not?I don't think George Michael should go anywhere near Bond or a Bond song.
Why not?
Your signature's interesting.
Who are you? Daniel Craig at a Press Conference?
If you knew anything about music, which I doubt you do, you would know that George Michael is no longer a major recording star and that he is risible in the music world.
I'm glad you find my signature interesting...

I know plenty about music, thanks. Have you heard the song Safe? Presumably so, as your signature says: 'EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU POST MORE THAN JUST OPINION' and 'DON'T SIT IN JUDGMENT TOO EARLY'. You've done both, haven't you?
Oh, and 'HAVE FUN, REMEMBER YOUR FELLOW POSTERS ARE HUMAN BEINGS'.
Either change your signature to something you can actually keep to, or try to be civil and back up your extremely rude posts with something halfway intelligent.
I'm sorry you find the truth offensive.
We just have agreed to disagree.

I'm sorry you find the truth offensive.
Your *opinion* is not the truth.
I find you offensive.
I suggest you change your signature. It's a nice thought, but you're clearly not capable of living up to it.
I never agree to disagree with people who simply say my opinion is crap and can't back it up with any reasons of their own.
Bye.

On what do you base this, Mercator?
How is your opinion any more valid than anyone elses?
And you are being rude and as SpyNovelFan has said already, you should look at your own signature before being so opinionated.

Although that one from Older (I think) that sounded very spy-ish in an Ipcress File-kinda way was quite fun. Was it 'The Strangest Thing'?

I want to see a crooner like Sir Tom Jones perform the title track once again. In fact, Sir Tom could even be James Bond himself.

I hope George Michael doesn't sing CR. He just has a bit of an 80s sounding voice to me, even having done other stuff recently. It might've been okay in the Duran Duran era, but that voice is a little too high for a Bond song.

High voice? Check out something like Move On from OLDER - he's a right crooner.

(I'd still love to see Steely Dan give it a go. Say, something like this:
'Winding my way through these dark boulevards
The wind comes in from the sea,
The sky's studded with stars
Not a care in the world it might seem to the passersby
The man in the dark English suit
But I'm here with my gun in my pocket
Waiting for something, something to happen
Come on! Let's take these fools on
Down at the tables where the men and women dress
So elegantly
Why won't you talk to me, darling?
Did I say something wrong?
Show me the way to
Casino Royale
It's hell on the nerves staying up all night
Battling the tough guy, but I'll keep on playing until
Casino Royale
Burns to the ground
My cards are on the table
When this is over, if I'm still able
Come away with me, away from
Casino Royale
I'll show you London...')
