I think Timothy Dalton should do it. Have Pierce agree to do it, but at the last minute, he is called to do something else, and Dalton gets the call to play Remington. I love irony.

But Remington Steele is hardly a role that requires a youthful chap, no? I mean, he's hardly leaping off cliffs on motorbikes or parasurfing waves in Iceland.

I would have thought half the fun would be in revisiting Remington Steele 20-odd years on. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see the appeal of a Steele flick sans Brosnan (as Steele). All we'd be left with is yet another TV show retread (of which critics appear to be already tiring).

I think he can do it, unless the studio wants to go younger and Brosnan himself agreeing, with Bond he had cemented a big screen journey of 4 films, so people becmae used to it and prepared to see him again, but remington steel now, it could back fire, because at the end of the day, he was Bond, and people might be expecting some bond things and could get disappointed, in that sense risky, the other film the november man seems more epic spy stuff, remington streel is a hark back as another tv show to movie adaption and those have been handled not always well, it's risky. Perhaps doing films like Matador is his thing now.

Does Pierce even have the rights to do a Remington Steele film? I would think Universal or whatever company put it out originally would still have the rights. I haven't heard or read anything about Irish Dreamtime aquiring the rights to this property.

Fox owns Remington Steele. Irish DreamTime will probably get permission to produce it and have Fox distribute it.

Seems to me IDT should get the rights first before talking about such a project.

Count me in as one with the notion that a Remington movie without Brosnan as the lead would really be pointless. In fact, him coming back to star in a Bond-like role would be its only allure.

Irish DreamTime probably already has the rights. I doubt Brosnan would talk about it if it wasn't a sure thing.

I think I'd want to see Pierce Brosnan in a film version of Remington Steele only if Stephanie Zimbalist was in it with him. I don't think it would be the same without the two co-stars together. If they couldn't get Zimbalist to be Laura Holt again, then I'd say go with two new actors in the lead roles.

This is from the Q&A section on Brosnan's site:

Q: Do you think there will ever be a Remington Steele Movie?

A: I am sorry but it doesn't look like it.
