The doctor said "Geroge Best is going to die, it is just a matter of time." So the one of Manchester United's greatest players is going to die it is just a matter of time.

When he dies it will be a sad day for football.

He has unfortunatelly died this afternoon.

Prime Minister Tony Blair led tributes to the man he called "probably the most naturally gifted footballer of his generation, one of the greatest footballers the UK has ever produced".

He was a true legend and he'll will never be forgotten.

Rest George Best, Rest.

I wouldn't have thought George Best was known much outside Europe. It's pleasantly surprising that a chap from America knows him

At least you saw him play somewhere I realize I was born way after his time, but I still wish I could see him grace the game.

Well, when I say I saw him play, that might've been a replay of a match. Or possibly not. I can't remember it very clearly. I can remember tennis matches from the 1970s more clearly though, which were definitely NOT replays.

He may have been a genius on the field, but I just have to wonder who might have missed out on a liver 3 years ago only to have this wanker get it and waste it.

I was a big Pele fan. And learn of Mr. Best, because of him. Sadly that was a long time ago.

The wife.

Too young to remember him as anything other than a sideshow, but a grim way to die, poor sod. May have been self-inflicted but it's still sad.

My thoughts exactly. I have no sympathy for the man. It is the price he had to pay for being an alcoholic.

If you've got problems, drinking is no excuse. It's his own fault. It is self inflicted. :D

View Post

Double Ditto.

If you'd watched the programme on his life, you'd realise what a loser he really was.

I've met him a few times when he used to come down to Southend-On-Sea with his family. He was even drunk as a lord then, and was constantly arguing with his wife. :D

I'm sure if these so called Sports/Pop 'personalties' didn't earn such excessive amount of money would they become such a wreck.

He had his problems, but you can't really deny what he did. I honest never heard of him before just now, as I am both American and too young to remember him. I think it's rude to pick at him for his personal problems though. It's a cheap shot. Everyone has problems. Drinking was the man's choice, and alcoholism is a very serious problem. The man had a contribution to society, and that's how he should be remembered. His personal life should be just that: personal. The man never attacked any of us personally, so why kick him when he's down? That's just rude.
