When I watched 'Thunderball', I saw this Tong symbol for the first time. First at the arm of Count Lippe, and second, when Bond is drawing the Tong Symbol. I really don't know for which crime syndicat this stands. Bond is asking Moneypenny to find it out, but we still don't now what it is.
And then, I saw 'You Only Live Twice'. I saw very clearly that the Officebuilding of Osato chemicals had the SAME symbol on the outside! Also IN Osato's office we see the same symbol again!
Is this symbol perhaps an undercover for SPECTRE, just like Universal Exports is an undercover of MI6?

Either way, I found it too incredulous that Monnypenny was able to scribble the exact design from Bond's meager description.
Yes, but she's very efficient.

Yeah, Osato's company's emblem is quite different to the Tong symbol. But maybe the writers of YOLT used a bit of the Tong symbol as a basis in designing Osato's emblem.

They are similar to be sure and have the SPECTRE connection.
The Red Lightning Tong symbol is a red *square* with a spike through it, while Osato's logo is a red *circle* with a calligraphy style figure through it similar to the spike, but perhaps a Japanese ideogram.
It might simply be that the same person in EON's art department designed both.

I'm pretty sure that they are different. Tongs are from China/Hong Kong and Osato Chemicals is a Japanese engineering firm. Just a coincidence probably.
