When I watched Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia With Love, Live And Let Die and Goldfinger, I was very much pleased with the last scnenes. You already think that everything is oke. Bond with Bondgirl, some flirting and kissing, and then.......then suddenly the henchmen/villains appear to kill Bond with desperate measures. Those short minutes are very much worth watching. You think Bond did hid job, but then you are surprised. I especiaaly like the entrance of Mr Wint and Mr Kidd on the cruiseboat. Kolonel Klebb was also very good as cleaner.

Although this ending got slammed by the serious Bond fraternity, I have to say I actually liked the British PM, Margaret Thatcher skit at the end of FYEO. It was a fun film that ended with a funny moment. It always raises a smile.

John Wells was fantastic. A completely stupid gaze directly into the camera. Cracks me up. Yes, it's stupid, but then so much of FYEO is po-faced and nonsensical that it's good to end on a lerf.

Realistic blood letting and nudity isn't really where Bond needs to go.  Lighten up fellas.

Who said any thing about bloodletting? Or nudity? I'm just talking about something like Nick-Nack jumping out and yelling, 'I keell you, Mr. Bond, I keell you.' Boy, that would have been a surprise ending for TWINE. :)

Although this ending got slammed by the serious Bond fraternity, I have to say I actually liked the British PM, Margaret Thatcher skit at the end of FYEO. It was a fun film that ended with a funny moment. It always raises a smile.

With the likes of TWINE, we are all getting so very earnest and serious, and I'm not sure of the ultimate entertainment value.

Realistic blood letting and nudity isn't really where Bond needs to go. Lighten up fellas.

Have you noticed that a lot of the endings have been near or in water.

Dr. No- Bond and Honey in the boat
FRWL- Tania and Bond in a boat
Thunderball- Domino and Bond in a boat
YOLT- Swimming Bond and (can't remember her name)
DAF- Bond and Tiffany on a boat
TMWTGG- Goodnight and Bond on the junk
TSWLM- Amosava and Bond in a boat
FYEO- Bond and Melina on a boat
LTK- Bond and Pam in a pool
TND- Wai Lin and Bond on some debris in the South China Sea

These are somewhat related:

OHMSS- they were on an ocean road (over-looking the ocean)
AVTAK- they were in the shower
TWINE- they had just escaped from a sub, and were. . .you know, near the water(over-looking it)

For some reason I can't remember some endings of the top of my head, if I missed any say so.

I agree. The World Is Not Enough could have used something like that.

And the heretical Never Say Never again ends with Bond in a pool.

Interesting observation, I hadn't noticed that before.

Also, Octopussy ends on a boat as well.
