Rank the Connery James Bond Films

1.Goldfinger:Best Connery Bond period. The action scenes are extemely fun & the cast is perfect. Gert Frobe & Harold Sakata are extremely menacing & Honor Blackman is great as Pussy Galore. And of course Sean Connery's terrific.
2.Thunderball:Sean Connery's best performance as Bond. He was pitch-perfect here. The Bahamas look great, there are a ton of beautiful women & some truly exicitng action scenes. However, it's 15 minutes too lon & the climax is slow keeping it from being the best Connery Bond.
3.YOLT:Sean Connery's most underrated Bond flick. Japan is the best exotic locale in any Bond film. The action is the most exciting yet & there are some good villains & sexy women. However, this is kinda silly & a little too hokey.
4.FRWL:Kinda overrated but fun Bond. The villains & the leading lady aren't quite up to par with Dr.No but the action is much more exciting. The 007/Red Grant fight is one of the very best the series has to offer.
5.Dr.No:Not a very exciting Bond film but certain scenes & performances are so memorable you have to like it. Sean Connery gets a perfect intro, Ursula Andress is stunningly beautiful & Joseph Wiseman is perfectly scary as the villain.
6.DAF:Just a so-so Bond film thats the 2nd worst Bond film ever. This is marginally more sucessful Bond film than my least favorite, OHMSS, thanks to the presence of Sean Connery. The action is less exciting, Jill St. John was not nearly as great as Diana Rigg & the villain sucks. I did enjoy Mr.Wint & Mr. Kidd as I did Bambi Thumper, but it's still the 2nd worst Bond film.

4. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE - One of the most overlooked Bond films, and wrongly so. It's a fantastic ride from start to finish, and the most epic Bond film around (and does "epic" better than any Bond film since). It has lush cinematography, a haunting score, wonderful action - what more could you want from a Bond film? I mean, this movie even has a hollowed-out volcano lair! How awesome is that?
5. THUNDERBALL - This film is darn good. Great, crisp dialogue, a wonderful performance from Connery, great Bond girls - but it doesn't all click. It takes a while to get going and there are some slow moments along the way. All said, though, it has enough wonderful moments to pull it all together. The death of Fiona is just one of those perfect Bondian moments. Overall, one of my favorites.
6. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - A fun, though cheesy, romp that has Connery giving a wonderfully campy performance. It's great fun, and often looked down upon. But it has its moments, and does what it sets out to do from the onset.

Put your Connery bonds in order form best to worst. P.S. NSNA doesn't count.
Why doesn't NSNA count: Connery played James Bond in it? At the time, the people pushing NSNA and Connery were publicising the film as featuring the "real" James Bond as opposed to Roger in Octopussy.
I appreciate it tends to way the Connery crap-Bond count fairly heavily, but it was/is a James Bond film.

I can't understand either why NSNA should be exluded, but if I had to rank it among the rest, it would be No6 with that disgraceful DAF at the very bottom of the list (and hell, if possible).

Indeed. It's number one on my Connery list (a list ranking the films in order of personal preference; if a "best to worst" list, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE would be number one, followed by GOLDFINGER).
1. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE
What Harmsway said.
2. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
3. DR. NO
4. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - not as good a film as
5. GOLDFINGER, but rather more fun to sit through, IMO
6. THUNDERBALL (not fond of this one)
As for NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, I think it does "count", but I find it hard to rank it alongside the Eon Connerys since it's such a different animal. Good film, and far superior to the dull, dated and po-faced (and long) THUNDERBALL. If forced to put it on my list, I'd probably rank NSNA after YOLT, FRWL and DR. NO.

My "favorites" list goes rather something like this then:YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE - One of the most overlooked Bond films, and wrongly so. It has lush cinematography, a haunting score, wonderful action - what more could you want from a Bond film? I mean, this movie even has a hollowed-out volcano lair! How awesome is that?

1. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE
2. THUNDERBALL
3. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
4. DR. NO
5. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
6. GOLDFINGER
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE is my favorite Bond flick, and has been for some time. Though, you really dislike THUNDERBALL - there's something I just can't help liking about it. I think it's a lot of fun. Guess it's too slow for you.

On the whole, though, I find the film meandering and sluggish, with far too much dead weight. A film of a handful of wonderful scenes surrounded by lots of dull scenes. Fun in places, but fatally flabby.
Mind you, I reckon that if I were ever able to see THUNDERBALL on the big screen, I'd walk away singing its praises as one of the best Bond flicks of all time.

I like all of them, but Dr. No will always be at the top, and DAF will always be at the bottom of my Connery Bond movie list.
