What are the companies around Bond, and what is their role?

EON -
MGM -
DANJAQ -

Is there anymore when it comes to the film series?

As for the books,

GILDROSE -

What are all these companies roles?

You are right Scaramanga, and isn't interesting that the name, Danjaq, is still around especially since Saltzman sold his share of EON to Cubby after TMWTGG.
His family may still have a legal link to the Bonds through this company.
What do you think?

Blue Eyes (23 Sep, 2001 10:58 a.m.):And as far as I know Harry Saltzman sold his Bond rights to United Artists and not Broccoli. I'm think UA outbid him so they could retain distribution rights. I could be wrong. But that's how I've always known it anyway.

All the info on how and why Harry Saltzman had to sell his part of the company is detailed in the documentary on TSWLM SE DVD!

I'm pretty sure that Danjaq stood for a combination of Dana, Cubby Broccoli's wife and Jaqueline, Harry Saltzman's wife.

All that sounds right to me.
Those who don't know may be interested in how Danjaq got it's name.
I'd actually like to know who were THE united artists when they started. Any takers?

EON - The Production company that produces the Bond films.
MGM - The films distributors. Put up a large amount of cash to do so. They release it world wide. Formely done by their Art House divison United Artists.
DANJAQ - The company that distributes/sells licences to companies wishing to make products from the film versions of Bond.

GILDROSE - Set up by Ian Fleming (I'm pretty sure anyway) and they own the rights to the literary Bond novels, but not the film novelisations which are owned by DANJAQ I believe.

I could be wrong with some of that, but that's how I've been told it is :)

Yes I'll take that one. Any chance to show of my limited knowledge and I'll take it!!

UA was established in 1919 by these 'artists':
* Charlie Chaplin
* Mary Pickford
* Douglas Fairbanks
* D.W. Griffith

Who are all ledgendary actors! Not that I've seen them all in anything though :) But they are all big names.

And as far as I know Harry Saltzman sold his Bond rights to United Artists and not Broccoli. I'm think UA outbid him so they could retain distribution rights. I could be wrong. But that's how I've always known it anyway.
