You already said this in another thread, word for word.

And James Bond could learn alot from Jack Bauer. Jack embodies everything a post Cold War spy should be.

Yes, mea culpa. I copy/pasted my post into this one too. What is the word for self plagiarism? Remake?
Jack Bauer is good but he is also like the Jason Bourne type. Next year everyone will be saying a spy should be like Ethan Hunt once MI3 comes out. Then Babs and Michael will realize their big booboo.

I prefer to treat people with intelligence. If they can't work out that I'm being humourous without smilies (and yes, I do bear in mind that writing is very different to talking), then I don't feel the need to converse with them.

Mr. Murphy, this has nothing to do with treating people with intelligence, but with treating people with decency.

Surely you would agree that the clickable smilies are there for many reasons, one of which is surely to help somebody from reading a thread in one way, when it can be taken differently in another way.

I`m a fairly easy going guy, who has a normal sense of humour, and I`ve read many threads on this forum where posters have said something that could be taken either way, (good or bad). However, seeing a happy or sad smiley next to the comment, tells me whether that comment was made in a serious or not serious way.

There are codes of conduct to be followed on this forum, and I would have thought respecting other people`s thoughts regarding James Bond and his world, would be one of them. Obviously not.

It`s okay for a poster to have a go at the poster called Ali Kerim Bay for (apparently) constantly having a go at Daniel Craig, (and that post against Ali was quiet vehement and should have been left to a moderator to deal with) but when I decide to defend my (and possibly others) corner regarding respect to other people`s threads, you come out with statements like, "If they can't work out that I'm being humourous without smilies, then I don't feel the need to converse with them."

If you don`t want to converse with me, Mr. Murphy, then that`s fine. However, if other posters such as myself defended their corner, and you disagreed with them as well, then I doubt you would have many people left on this forum to converse with.

Making comments such as the one made by yourself can only inflame a situation. I wouldn`t dream of defending someone on this post in a personal manner, (as opposed to defending another poster regarding his thoughts on Bond) as you have, whether I knew that person or not. Unless you happen to know both Blofeld`s Cat and Mister Asterix, (which you may do). As I and other posters have seen, one of them is quite happy to defend himself.

I believe everybody has a point to make on this forum, about James Bond, whether somebody agrees with that point or not. This is called debate and is the sole purpose for having this discussion board here in the first place.

As I said in my last post, if everybody used a clickable smiley (and many do) to denote their feelings after a comment is made, then there should be no room for confusion ever again. It takes just a few seconds to click on a smiley, so I don`t see what the problem is in doing it, especially if it stops people from reading a thought meant one way, but taken quite differently another way.

Might I suggest to everyone in future, if you wish to make humourous remarks to a thread, please use a clickable smilie to show there is no ill will to that person.

Oh, but clickable smilies are so vulgar and although I do use them sometimes, I always hate myself for so doing.

There's too much stock being put into this "reinventing the wheel" quote.

You're probably right. But Mr. Campbell is quoted as saying it (he may have been misquoted of course) and if he was quoted accurately, I can't help thinking it was an unfortunate turn of phrase.

MI3 apparently is going for a grittier, darker Bourne-esque tone from what I understand.

James Bond is James Bond. Jason Bourne is Jason Bourne. They are two different types. Just as a hollowed volcano in a Jason Bourne wovie will not work, similarly a 15 minute talking and card playing scene in James Bond movie will suck. Remember how people cring when they se the sentimental stuff in OHMSS ( and how that movie was a financial mess even though it was good).
JB is like a QuarterPounder with Cheese. You dont order it rare, medium or well done. You just eat it.
And for a realistic piece you need an equally talented director. Not a hack (with a series of flops) like Martin Campbell.
Batman Begins is cool because of the director. If Martin Campbell had made Batman Begins it would have made as little money as Legend of Zorro has.

The trailer for season five of 24 has me more excited then Casino Royale, it puts tv shows and most films to shame, the creators of 24 allow Kiefer Sutherlands Jack Bauer character to go anywhere really, explore, taking risks, and execute character/story properly. The creators of 24 probabley would of given us better brosnan films then EON, better stories at least.

And I think Kiefer Sutherland is way cooler and acts better then Daniel Craig, the perfection combination, he's like a Canadian Timothy Dalton lol.

People talk of Bond being up against Jason Bourne type characters lol, meanwhile the real truth is, Jack Bauer and the show 24 are more damn exciting then most Bond films, and they use Kiefer Sutherland's talents well, something barbara brocolli's team never did with pierce, and I doubt they'll they've learned their lessons, not allowing Daniel Craig to smoke in Casino, big no no!
