Except for the ending sceen in OHMSS that separates from the other endings-
I think I would have to say
Vesper Lynd's Goodbye-letter to Bond in the end of the book "Casino Royale" when Bond finds her a letter next to the body after her suicide;
"It is late and I am tired, and two doors is the only thing that separates us. But I have to be brave. You might save my life, but I could not stand your lovely eyes watching me.
My beloved, beloved"
(free translation from a Swedish copy)
Too bad they spoiled this great book with one of the worst parodies ever made.

There's something about the end of MOONRAKER that always tugs at my heart. You know, when Bond and Gala meet for coffee in London and both realize that it will never be (but don't really say it) and they just turn and "walk back into their very different lives." Nice.
Yeah, I think Benson did that in NDOD and it worked well; especially seeing as how in the last one, Bond ended up in a menage a trois with some twins. No, that ending definitely wasn't Bond.

Not to 'knock' your Swedish translation, but in English the letter ends:
Fantastic
Ian Fleming's Casino Royale 1952
It's late now, and I'm tired, and you're just through two doors. But I've got to be brave. You might save my life, but I couldn't bear the look in your dear eyes.
My love, my love.
Fantastic

I love these bittersweet endings to the books. The ones that end with Bond and babe in bed, well, that's better suited to the movies, I think.
