Layer Cake was the ultimate Bond audition tape for Daniel Craig.

First, Bond has just been enlisted into the double-o section. Craig brilliantly showed the fish-out-of-water aspect in the film where you felt like this was a man on the edge who was lost.

Second, Bond has the capability of being a ruthless killer, but a killer that in Casino Royal, questions why he kills. In Layer Cake, Craig showed the inner torture after killing his boss in cold blood.

Third, Bond is someone who has a likeability aspect to his personality. Throughout Layer Cake, you like Craig

I disagree. I'v eseen Layer Cake and to me Criag doesn't cut it. Notto be superfical but he doesn't look Bond despite Danny boy being dressed up in fine suits and he holds a gun...so whay? That doesn't mean he should take on a role as big as James Bond.

look, Daniel Craig doesn't deserve the 007 number. But apparently Eon are into brainwashing everyone that he is.

We don't know that. He has killed at least twice and has gone on several missions since the war so he is at least experienced to a degree. He isn't a complete rookie.

But his Fleming's Bond really tortured by it? He seemed pretty eager on the draw with the beretta on about page 3. And even in the end he doesn't seem tortured, he is philosophical and confident in the idea that good and evil are relative, that's why he thinks the killing means nothing.

That said, I'm not overly opposed to Craig...he is just not my favorite choice and I don't think he is perfectly Fleming's Bond.

Let's try to keep Daniel Craig discussion in this, or one of the other open threads on Craig for now.
