The cover of this October's UK GQ magazine features both Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan (the photo was taken in July of this year).

I thought this would be a good picture to post here because we can see [almost] side-by-side Craig and Brosnan both actually looking suave, dressed up, and groomed.

Anywho... "Craig" vs "Brosnan" in this picture, thoughts? I'm still with Brosnan (thought I doubt he'll be back for Casino Royale), he's the one with the Bond looks. Craig, eh, he's alright... but he just looks like a "Steve McQueen" type and that type is just not James Bond in my eyes.

Pierce looks amazing in that picture!

Daniel Craig..........well Steve McQueen...yeah that's accurate.

Yeah, Pierce looks pretty darn ready to be 007 one more time.

I say they should get (in order of preference) Craig, O'Lachlan (if he's a decent actor - not seen him in anything) or Brosnan. That's my "final three" - I don't see any of the other rumoured candidates working as Bond, with the obvious exception of Owen, who appears to be totally out of the question.

I agree - and given that Frank senior's still about, you can convincingly have the Young Bond / Old Bond thing and they'll look similar!

Sorted.

I guess, if they haven't found anyone capable enough, they should go back to Pierce, until they do. Age is no problem; he looks younger than Craig in this photo, as well as in any other photo.

I have been saying Brosnan is too old but he looks really cool and hip in that GQ photo. Craig looks merely OK and not very Bondian. If Brosnan comes back I hope he keeps that grittier look with the hair and attitude.

A piece of wood? What kind? Balsa? Oak? Or is high time for a mahogany Bond? :) Oh the possibilities!

Tarl!

Snap out of it, man!

If Craig becomes Bond, my advice to you is: don't look a problem eliminator in the mouth. :)

Craig looks a little like the result of a genetic splice between Barry Manilow, Viggo Mortenson and Steve McQueen. I could buy him as a Bond ally but the not the big guy himself.

I agree Genrewriter. Craig would be far better suited as an ally, similar to Sean Bean in Goldeneye. Bean and Craig are both fine actors but just don't look the part in it's cinematic sense.

*snap*,Ok I'm still not sold... Daniel Craig just doesn't do it for me as Bond;he's just uninspired. You Limies have a serious gene pool crisis on your hands! :) :) Start breeding with those Spaniards and we'll get some proper Bond choices down the road :) . I almost would rather give Brosnan another shot just so they get Bond #6 right in 2008/9.And Brosnan looks pretty good there...my ' :) ' was out of fear they might call the 'ol bastid back to work but maybe that's not such a bad idea. :)

With The Matador appearently being delayed now, I think that it is possible that we will hear something in the next couple of weeks as opposed to late October.

I just figured out who Craig reminds me of in that picture. He looks a lot like Mumbles from 1990's DICK TRACY.

And Mumbles is no James Bond.

Hang on, is the Bros-man in jacket, jeans and smart shoes? How can one of the most 'stylish men of the year' be dressing like Jeremy Clarkson on the cover of GQ?

Craig and Brosnan look great. Craig is no Mumbles (he doesn't look like Dustin Hoffman, are you kidding?). He does bear a resemblance to McQueen, who is the ultimate BMF ever, (Sorry Samuel L. Jackson). Brosnan looks in excellent shape and could still play the part, but it's time for new blood, give Craig the role.

Blame the shoot's wardrobe department. :)

I feel similar. I think that Brosnan could still play the role of 007 and would love to see him back in Bond's shoes. But... all this talk of a new Bond and Casino Royale has gotten me to a point of wanted to see another actor in the role. I don't have a specific person in mind though... Craig doesn't have the proper looks to me (maybe if they died his hair black? No, not sure that would do the trick.). Anywho, they had just better pick... someone in the spirit of the past five 007 actors.
