'Bond movies should be sexier and more violent'
Monday September 12 2005 16:13 IST
LONDON: Former James Bond Pierce Brosnan is begging the producers of Bond movies to spice up the next instalment with more sex scenes, saying it could a flop otherwise.
According to contactmuisic.com, the actor says that producers need to make the movie sexier and more violent. He says, "You're not even allowed to show a bl**dy nipple. It's pathetic. What Bond needs is a good, palpable killing sequence and a good sex scene."

AHEM.. so Pierce walked out because he wouldn't be allowed to smooch the Bond girls the appropriate way and kick his enemies'

They appear to get more scoops than anyone, but who in their right mind would talk to such a trashy tabloid website?
That said, it does sound like something he would say.

...This also turned up in the trades in the fall of 2004 in the context of his thoughts one what he felt was needed for the next Bond. However, I don't agree with him. Nipples and violence are externals. They only serve to punctuate Bond's persona, the way they did in Dr. No with the murder of Dent and the seduction of Taro, but they don't define it or somehow make a blah Bond more exciting.

I enjoyed Brosnan quite a lot, but these daily 'info turds' are becoming quite tiresome.

Who cares was PB has to say. Make better films, plain and simple. Who cares about Jason Bourne. Make better Bond films and your problem is solved. I nipple and a little blood doesn't make James Bond any better. The fight with 006 in Goldeneye at the end was fabulous and there was no need for excessive blood. If you want to keep Bond an icon just make better quality films.

Ah, the old geezer can't let a single day go by without crapping out another brown chunky trinket of his infinite wisdom---to be closely and seriously examined by a fawning press.
I enjoyed Brosnan quite a lot, but these daily 'info turds' are becoming quite tiresome.
One wonders if he'll continue to hold forth on where Eon's going wrong in the event of his being hired for CASINO ROYALE. Will the "making of" documentary on the DVD feature on-set shots of Brosnan saying things like:
"I feel such a fraud standing here in this tux, like I'm doing today, saying all these cheesy one-liners";
"I've come back because they refused to consider Ewan McGregor as my replacement, simply for being too short - ridiculous!";
"The producers still don't know whether they're coming or going; here, take a look at the script, this is what we've been filming this morning - absolute incomprehensible rubbish, all of it";
"Hi, this is Pierce Brosnan, I'm on the set of the - how time flies, eh? - 21st James Bond film, CASINO ROYALE; over there is director Martin Campbell, and if I've told them once I've told them a thousand times: they should get a director like Ang Lee or John McTiernan";
"TAKE YOUR BLOODY BRA OFF, WOMAN! FOR GOD'S SAKE, LET'S HAVE SOME T&A IN THIS FILM! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE JAMES BOND, NOT A FLIPPIN' EUNUCH!!!!!!!!"
?
And will we see Broccoli, Campbell, Wilson and co. just standing there, smiling indulgently?

But I remember that before, during promotion of the previous films he always talked about taking the caracter to what Fleming created. I've always saw him interested in caracter driven plots, instead of explosions and fireworks.
He did what he could, and what he was allowed to do.
Fleming's Bond IS sex and violence.
Agree. Its a priority to have a good script, good acting performances, if they wanted to be faithfull to Fleming they needed to let go of the PG-13.

Cubby's is "sadism for the family". Note the "for the family".

MovieBond isn't supposed to be Quentin Tarantino or SIN CITY.
And, yes, I realise that it's an old, old quote, but it seems that Brosnan has been dissing the Bond series quite a bit of late. Make of it what you will. But as Darren says, if he does do Casino Royale he's going to have to explain all his recent comments berating EON and knocking the character of James Bond during the ensuing publicity.

Either way, I'm suprised he said that, what with all his banging on about "deeper character development" and such.

Interesting....I agree with him but why did he play Bond as a girly man in TWINE but profess to endorse a more macho grande R-rated style Bond??? Why so inconsistent? If he played Bond like he played Andy Osnard (?) in 'Tailor of Panama' he would have been a great James Bond. Instead, he settled for 'just ok'.Anyway, I wanted to see Tarantino do 'Casino'. Imagine the fight scenes...drool.

The saddest part of Brosnan's comments is that he's right, but he'll never be the man to deliver that performance. He's simply lacks the acting chops.
May I remember you of that look on his face in the pretitles of TWINE, when he shoots that guy? He IS effective with those little snippets, but yes, he doesn't have the skills to deliver a broader performance.
Concerning his comment: yet another try to hide his dreadful acting. Bond definitely doesn't need more sex. That DAD scene already was way too much for me. Oh, how I miss those erotic scenes

...Its not fair to say PB doesn't have the "chops" because we don't know the extent to which his Bond was shaped by what the producers and directors have wanted over the years.
