Cracking article - I didn't realise there was so much that could be found. Guess it all comes down to the persistance of the searcher.

I was happy to have found Pagi during my trip, although my lovely lady managed to take a picture of the place when the film hadn't actually 'taken' on the sprockets.

Cheers.

This is an AMAZING story with terrific pics. Love the comparison shots. I'm stunned at how unchanged everything is. Looking at the pics, I actually think some of these locales weren't done justice in the film. Things seem to be framed a little too tightly in FYEO. I can see now how opening up the frame more on some of these shots, or just changing the angle, would have revealed another clock tower or beautiful mountain vista. A good example here.

I really encourage everyone to click on over to http://www.onthetracksof007.com/ and take a look at similar stories on almost all the movie locations (click on "overview"). Martin is also now selling a CDROM that sounds great.

Thank you for sharing this with CBn, Martin. This is a classic. :)

A very interesting read Evan. Thank you. :)

We love Greece. Carol and I have visited Zakynthos 14 times, as well as Cyprus and Samos.

There is indeed very many exciting and interesting monastery's and churches in Greece that have an extraordinary 'pull' about them.

Thanks again for this great information.

Yamass,

Ian

Hey Byron.

Hey, Greece is our second home my friend. One day we're going to purchase some land over there and rest our old butts on that Greek soil.

In the meantime, if you have some deals going on, we would of course be extremely interested.

"speak or forever hold us in Greece!". :)

Cheers,

Ian

Excellent article....one of my favorite Bond films.

On the comment of the death of Locque being the first time 007 had been ruthless since the early films. Surely though Roger was similarly ruthless when he flipped his tie away from Sandor in TSWLM.

Well, I do, but that's because I run the site..
That's not fair now is it..? :)

Yes all the stories we offer (27 around the world) are of similar quality,
same sort of comparison photos, but also with clickable maps, video sections, etc.

Look at the stories we offer on our site, go to 'overview'..

If you like Bond, Bond history, traveling, locations, or a combination of this, you'll love the site..

:)

I've got a subscription to the site and I'm very pleased with it. There is a lot of hard work put into the site. I'm just finishing up a Las Vegas locations/history article that is similar to James Bond's London that I may offer the site also.

Fantastic article, Martin. Great read and very informative. "Bedankt" for it. :)

Wish you could have made it to Piz Gloria with Charles and myself back in spring.
Would have been a blast, for sure.

I spent a few days on Corfu in the summer of '87, and it was a blast. I was travelling with college buddies, chasing the ladies, and hitting the Ouzo hard, so searching out FYEO locations wasn't my priority. [heresy, I know] Nice to see what I missed in some of these pics!

It's a beautiful island, for sure (even moreso than as portrayed in these pics or in FYEO, IMO).

Wow... this article is so wonderful. I love all the photos as well. I was in Greece when I was 13, before I really became a Bond fan... and I did go to Corfu, of course not knowing it was in a Bond film. I was aware of Meteora being in a Bond film though... I'm being a little nostalgic... hee hee....

Thank you, onthetracksof007!

I can't wait until a BCW is held in Europe (open the flood gates!) I would love to visit the sites that Mr. Mulder & staff have visited! The fact that Mr. Mulder & Mr. Sherman have been in close contact should be a great sign to Bond Location fans such as myself! I'll book my ticket...just name the place!

Can you tell me what Roger & Timothy 007 Movies you have on there?

We have all the locations listed by film.
Our stories are not listed by film, but by geographical location.
They are travel guide stories to places where filming has taken place.
In this Greece story for instance, it is a coincidence that it only invloves locations from FYEO. If there had been filming for other Bonds as well, we would have covered them also.

More FYEO locations are discussed in our story about the Swiss & Italian Alps.
There we talk about the Cortina d'Ampezzo locations.

For Roger and Timothy films, we have stories about Jamaica (LALD), Thailand (TMWTGG), Sardinia and Egypt (TSWLM), Brazil and France and Venice (MR), Swizterland and Italy and Greece and England (FYEO), RAF Northolt and England and India and Berlin (OP), England and France (AVTAK), Gibraltar and England (TLD), Mexico and Florida (LTK)...
