I quit watching AMC when they had that smirking, scrawny wiseass pretending to be James Bond come on the scene.

Is there a legitimate reason other members post the same type of comment about Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery, and you don't comment about it? If you would like an example, look no further than this thread when the same type of thing was posted about Sean Connery.

FINALLY!!

Wow was that first week suck

Seeing how Connery lived off ripping off Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack Era! Wow that guy has no range, anytime any actor next to him tried to show compasion or possibly show range to the James Bond Character. He gets all stiff like a block of wood. ( I really think he learned to act in the late 1970's & the first time he showed range was in Indiana Jones 3 )

Connery could have never done OYMSS! He could have never shown Bond falling in love OR even falling into like

Plus watching him from Dr.No - Diamonds Are Forever... wow did he fall apart! He turned into a fat pig/old math teacher. Plus Diamonds Are Forever is the opening to the "Camp".

But FINALLY we can see where the Series Started! The Range in the character, The Stunts, The Peak of 007 Crew & The starting of Cubby running it all by himself! IF you like 007, you have to love when The 007 Crew learned what worked in the 1960's & what didn't work in the 1960's. They totally figured it all out in ROGER MOORE's Era!

I am sure you are going to comment on this person's post, too. You just have not gotten around to it yet.

I've spent many a post defending all sorts of things around here, and to no real avail, as petty slights and inconceivably malicious attacks have continued.

I'd committed to just letting the crap go, and I lapsed for a moment there. So, you're right, I'll go back to just stepping clear of the dog-poop.

I've read many a funny post from Chandler/hrabb04, and I certainly don't want to be a forum ninny. Just seems of late that it's been a tide of negative stuff, and that post was the straw that broke the proverbial back.

Moving on, with no ill will....

I had a look at DAF last night and I thought it looked pretty darn good. But it wasn't the letterbox broadcast so I couldn't really judge. I set the TiVo to record the letterbox SPY.

I think maybe the pressure cooker of uncertainly about Bond #6 is starting to get to all of us. I really thought we'd hear in early August. It all seemed to be pointing that way. Now I really have no idea when we'll hear something.

I guess that can only mean that none of the "final four" is felt to be up to scratch, they can't find anyone else to audition, and they've resumed negotiations with Brosnan. Where's ACE? :)

Is it me, or are they avoiding showing commercials for A View To A Kill?

Basically, every commercial break, they advertise a film coming up in the series. They have been showing commercials for Octopussy, The Living Daylights and Never Say Never Again for a while, and today they started showing Licence To Kill (spelled "license", BTW - I guess Americans don't know that word either :) But I have yet to see a single commercial for A View To A Kill.

The film is on the schedule, so I guess they're showing it. Still, it's awfully weird.

The more for the better film (Octopussy), the better!

AMC is promoting the wide screen versions as world premiere of a digitally remastered version. Who did the remastering? Also, the end titles of some are left alone, but some are "scrunched up" with a promo showing at the forefront. I still noticed, even when they "scrunched up" GOLDFINGER's end titles, that they are still using the version that says the next Bond movie is OHMSS. A few have had a disclaimer at the beginning that they they are shown as originally released, aka unedited.

I finally did see a A View To A Kill commercial. But I swear, it's 1 for that one versus about 56 each for the others.

Yeah, it's a shame what they're doing to the end titles. I think it's been a good presentation otherwise.

I've enjoyed the Bond marathon. I think AMC did a good job and their bumpers promoting the marathon and individual films are top-notch. Found the semi-new UA logo to be interesting enough. I missed the very beginning of NSNA...what studio logo did they use?

this marathon is much better than the spike tv marathons, IMO. its much less "the bond films WE like, in no particular order" and more "catch up with james bond, dont worry, were showing them in order."

I find the Spike marathons frustrating as well.

I don't really like the commercials for the AMC marathon. It seems like they don't showcase the best parts of the film (like with the FYEO one, they jump from "BOND...IN GREECE...WITH THE IDENTIGRAPH..." The Identigraph was pretty cool, but why would that make non-Bond fans interested in the film? They could have had more conventional commercials IMHO...

They used Orion, but it looked like it was sort of redone...didn't they go out of business a while back?

Thanks much. I know the DVD of NSNA also uses the Orion logo. Orion was bought by MGM in 1997. Using the logo keeps alive their trademark ownership of Orion, plus distances themselves from the "renegade" Bond film.

Now for the next question: did anyone catch the pan-and-scan version? Were the titles letterboxed or also pan-and-scan since it was live action?

I believed the titles (with action) was letterboxed. After the "Directed by Irvin Kershner" title, it went to pan-and-scan on the next cut.
