Checking out all the latest video on the upcoming FRWL game I am struck by the fact that I will be watching Connery in his prime in a current Bond world.
I takes me back to when I was just a kid. Awsome.
Now I am faced with a decision. Do I buy an X-Box or a Playstation 2?

GameCube. Nintendo is the only true video game company. They were the first and they have the only worth while franchises (Mario, Zelda, etc.) and all of the James Bond games are released for it.

Definently Gamecube, no other sytem comes close to it, and I just downright hate the X-Box and PS2. Bond games always seem to turn out best when it comes to Nintendo. :)

I am surprised you both said Gamecube. I will have to look into it.

If you're one of those anti-Nintendo guys then get a PS2 because Sony now owns the James Bond series and they've been in the business longer than Microsoft.

Get it for the Gamecube mate, underrated console, I see the Playstation as a casual gamers console.

Hotwinds, you can never go wrong with a Nintendo console. They are simply the best. British Assasin, Shaun Forever, & I will refund your money if you don't like your GameCube . :)

If you're looking to get more Bond games in the future, then I'd probably go with the Sony consoles, since Sony now owns Bond and may decide in the future to make it a Playstation exclusive. Not saying that they will do that, but it's possible. Plus, Gamecube doesn't really have that many games out for it. Yes, the Nintendo developed games are great, but there's a lot of downtime in between them where there's not much coming out for the system.

Between the Xbox and the PS2, get an Xbox. I don't know why everyone is saying PS2. PS2 controller = the suck. I doubt Sony would make Bond exclusive. He's worth far more as a multiplatform game. Regardless, this generation is over anyway so for future titles it won't really matter since they'll be on newer systems. Considering that last point, I'd get a GameCube. It's cheaper and it's got a good number of AAA games. I mean if you're considering a system of this gen now.

I suppose you could also get Xbox 360 coming up this November. It's more expensive, but the Xbox version of FRWL has a great chance of being playable on it and you'll be set for the next 4+ years.

I've got so many video game systems it isn't even funny, I've got SNES, N64, PS, PS2, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Game Cube. I've been a loyal Nintendo supporter for a little over 15 years, they always turn out quality games. But Playstation, for the most part, turn out games for a more mature audience and that's probably why Nintendo is so underrated as no one really takes their games seroiusly since most of them look all cartoony. Majority of gamers are 13+ and they don't want to play cartoonish games. I haven't seen any games on the Playstation that have been lower than a T+ rating while Nintendo has plenty of E rated games. Don't get me wrong Mario and Zelda are fun (Mario made me a video game freak and I'm really looking forward to LOZ: Twilight Princess!) but Mario hasn't had a decent game since Super Mario RPG, now THAT was a sweet game. All of my games on PS (1 and 2 alike) are all Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. Those franchises are the only things that got me into the Playstation.

End petit shpiel. :)

On the topic: I'll definitely buy FRWL for GC as all of my Bond games are Nintendo.

I would say XBOX, far superior to the PS2 and Gamecube hardware wise... and has got quite a larger selection of games. If you want the best graphics and smoother framerate... out of the 3 systems, go for the XBOX. Besides, they'll be dropping to $99 after the 360 is released in november. I own a ps2 and xbox (for "research", since I'm in the game industry), and the xbox gets alot more playtime, mainly due to the online gaming aspect (but that doesnt matter with FRWL). Also, all this talk about nintendo being THE game company... they were in the 80s (when they ended the video game crash by releasing the NES), not anymore... they're doing terribly financially, DS sales are awful, game releases for the cube and DS have been awful (save for a few like paper mario, RE4, The Zelda series), and unless their next gen system, the revolution can pull things together for them, Nintendo will most likely be out of the console game and be strictly developing / publishing games.

I agree with you as far as the future of Nintendo is concerned, they do get their prized gems (RE4, Zelda, etc.) every so often but overall, they are not doing well. They were pioneers in the video game industry but they will probably fold up their tents in the next 10 years and, like you said, be exclusively publishing games.

I haven't played the XBOX yet, so I can't challenge your statements but I will probably stick to Sony and Nintendo (I've played Nintendo for 13 years, I'm going to be going down with the ship on this one :), all the way down).

If only Nintendo didn't sell Final Fantasy to Sony; but then again if they hadn't would we get Final Fantasy VII? It was a milestone in video game history; one of the highest-selling video games of all time and one of the most graphically advanced games of its time. I agree that other consoles do beat out Nintendo graphically, Final Fantasy VII wouldn't have been what it is if Nintendo made it. God, I have to shut up about Final Fantasy, this is a Bond forum! :)

Nintendo will be around for many years to come. They may not be as powerful as Microsoft or Sony but it is the only innovator in the industry. Microsoft and Sony products are always very similar but Nintendo makes products that are unique and different (in a good way).

Sony has put Spider-man games out on just about every platform known to man, so they'll probably share Bond with the other consoles too. I wonder if there will be a Casino Royale game; beat Le Chiffre at baccarat and then try to survive the carpet beater of doom!

Haha, I can definitely see someone at Newgrounds.com making a flash mini-game based on the carpet beater torture sequence.

I would say PS2, but only because I own one. I have limited experience with the other systems (although I suspect that's more than others can claim) and find the systems poor because of gameplay or general quality. I'm no gamer, but that's my two cents.

I absolutly agree with you. I 've had Nintendo's since the NES. Playstaions are ok but as you all say the Nitendo is underated. It is a good entertainment machine

PS2 or Xbox are true gamers' systems. Gamecube's games are more targeted for little kids, except the ones that aren't, like 007. I say PS2 because 1. I have one and 2. The controller is easier to handle than Gamecube. THe Xbox controller is similar to Gamecube's, but for some reason I find it easier to handle.

Besides, the Gamecube discs are too small and easy to lose.

And Playstation was I believe the first system to fully use 3d graphics.

To all the naysayers about Nintendo: Keep in mind Nintendo has done the best profitwise with over $7 Billion in profits over the past few years. Microsoft hasn't made a dime in profits over the entire four year run of the XBox (except during one period when Halo 2 was all the rage), and Sony has about $5.5 Billion. Nintendo knows how to make systems that are incredibly sturdy and cheap to produce, that's why they're still in business, despite they're third place in the US over the electronic gluttons of Sony and Microsoft.

I don't think Revolution will be Nintendo's "swan song", for they still got the DS and GBA to fall back on. Speaking of which, the DS has been doing better over the PSP thanks to the excellent surge of new games. Overall, I think Nintendo's doing good at the moment. They could pay a bit more attention to the Gamecube, but they're doing fine.

Back to the original topic at hand: unless you wish to use the online multiplayer (speaking of which, has a multiplayer been mentioned yet?), get the Gamecube version, for the PS2 will most likely look not as pretty. Plus the GC system itself is $100, even less used. It's a steal. Plus, check out the other games, even the non-Bond ones. Yes, there are more than just E-rated games and Bond games. There's a few M-rated ones out there, some of them pretty damn good.

It's funny that I'd talk about video game console clashing in a James Bond forum.
