Peter Jennings died at his New York home on Sunday. In April, he announced that he had lung cancer. He was one of my favorite anchors. :)

My prayers are with his family.

I thought he was extremely good at his job, one of my favorites as well. All the best to his family.

Yeah he was a staple at ABC forever...RIP Mr. Jennings-what a surprise.... :) A very classy man...And the Best anchor ever. :)

Warning: This next sentence is frivolous and inappropriate for this thread but...since it does have a small relation to the world of 007 I'll offer it...

Sheena Easton had a crush on him and sent him some naughty photos once... :)

Ditto. I didn't think he was that old yet.

And interesting Easton trivia, I never knew about that.

Here's another frivolous comment about my fave ABC World News Tonight anchor but, it fits in with this message board-in a round table interview with the actresses of the tv series Designing Women that appeared in TV GUIDE, one of the actresses(not sure which)thought Mr.Jennings would've made a good James Bond had he been an actor.

Having grown up always watching him on TV is so sad to think I'll never get to see him again. He was like a member of my family. I really loved his series "Peter Jennings Reporting" on various different topics but "The Century" was my favorite. The "ABC 2000" special is in my mind one of the greatest television events ever concieved, just brilliant stuff. It was fantastic to see every hour another time zone/country ring in the Millennium with Peter as our guide. I also remember staying up till four in the morning during the 2000 Election night coverage when it was quite clear it wasn't going to be decided that day.

I remember being outside a Walmart on September 11th when someone told my family about the terrorist attacks. I ran back into the store to see if they had any of the TVs in the electronic department on. Whee they couldn't get the news on I went to the aisle with the radios and kept turning the dials until I heard Peter's voice.

He's always been a part of my life and I am going to miss him so much.

Here's another Jenning's Bond connection. Ted Koppel recalled how much Jenning's looked liked Roger Moore back in the late 60s and 70s and how the girls went crazy for Peter. He said one woman asked if Peter would marry her and he jokingly said yes. Later when he arrived in Denver she was there waiting wearing a wedding dress.

Charlie Gibson who was doing tonight's report mentioned that when he once met Roger Moore, Roger mentioned that he was a proud perticipant in a Peter Jennings look alike contest.

Peter Jennings will be missed. He was very good at his job, and brought the news to millions in an honest way that made him very believable and trustworthy. He will be sorely missed, and my thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to his family.

I was absoulutely shocked when I read this news yesterday. Peter Jennings was, without a doubt, my favorite news anchor. He will certainly be missed.

I just finished watching most of the tribute. The whole "Peter looks like James Bond" was mentioned a few times.
