Not bad.
A bit young perhaps.
Looks like an angry Christian Bale to me.

Shane Brolly - Irish actor, born in Belfast, age unknown. If he can do a credible English accent and the Bond charm, worth a screentest perhaps?

Some fans of the movie Underworld (in which he appeared) say he was terrible. Never know, could have improved. :)

Ta-da. A spangly new thread.

I'd rather go on acting ability than looks, myself. Haven't seen him in anything yet.

Hmmm... he seems to be in his 30s according to some forums.
His characterization of "creepy" Kraven was done well enough in Underworld. I've just read the two Underworld books and I can't help but see Shane Brolly in Kraven's shoes.
He might do well as Bond. He has the looks.
We need to see him do other stuff to be sure.
My rating: 3/5

Saw him in Underworld as one of the main characters. He was very convincing and i thought he looked like Bond immediately. He's like a cross between Timothy Dalton and Daniel Day Lewis.

Well, that's it then, he's out.

Can't act.

Assuming he's a decent actor, the question is: can he do a convincing English accent? I'm assuming he's got a distinct Northern Ireland Belfast accent. That's far removed from Bond's accent.

On the positive side, I think this guy is more in keeping with the look we associate with Bond. It's refreshing to see an actor that looks the part rather than some of the candidates mentioned, such as Daniel Craig. If he can do the accent and a credible screentest, I'd choose him over Goran Visnjic.

Eon, are you aware of this actor?

Movie Bond's traditional physical requirements are more than facial. Facially, this guy passes the test. But how about the other physical attributes? 6'1"/6'2", some muscularity, even chest hair. How's his voice? Screen presence. I've been on the Hugh Jackman bandwagon for the role. If he's too big and unavailable, I've been intrigued by the possibility of the much lesser known Gary Stretch, whom I noticed satisfied all of the above in "Alexander."

In all those pictures he comes off with too much a villainous vibe for Bond--it seems to be a part of his natural presence. Better as a bad guy in CR.

He could act the hero. It's hard to judge on photos alone. Pierce Brosnan has always struck me as having a fairly soft face but he successfully played an evil KGB agent in The Fourth Protocol. So there's no reason why an actor with, as you put it, a villainous vibe couldn't do the reverse and play a hero. I guess it comes down to how good an actor he is.

Maybe BUT some actors are natural villians and others heroes and his countenance seems made for bad guys. I'd have to see him act more than Underworld where he was a rather poorly acted villian IMO. Perhaps he shows better acting and shades of heroism than he did in Underworld--though I have my doubts especially with his natural bad guy looks.

I think Bond should look like a bad guy. Cruel, masculine features, topped off with a dirty great scar down his mush. Don't want another GQ mincer.

don't know him. I haven't seen underworld. But I wouldn't want someone just because he looks (in your opinion) like Bond but then can't act.

I mean I think Daniel Craig would be great and he doesn't look like Bond.

Kind of has a slight resemblence to Jason Patric.

He'd prolly make a good bond.

Bond should look handsome but ruthless. His looks should telegraph ability to be cruel when the situation calls for it. Connery had this quality down pat. I actually think the "villainous" look is actually one of the advantages of this Brolly guy.

On the marketing side, I think there is another advantage. He has a good name for a Bond actor. Shane Brolly sounds a bit in the area of Sean Connery. Trivial, but true.
