The 21-disc Monster DVD Set has mysteriously re-appeared at JB Hi-fi, having been on moratorium here in Australia for well over a year.

JB are stocking the set for the very reasonable price of $289 with a strict limit of two per customer (how many sets do people need?).

With the DVD re-releases of the films still a fair way away, and the Monster sets currently going off eBay for much more than what JB are asking, it might be worthwhile to get in quick and grab a set before they vanish again.

Trust JB to have them. :)

I'm going to grab this pack because all the ones I bought locally in Indonesia have developed a glitch. For some reason (and only since last week) they all want to play in B&W. :)

That must be kind of interesting with ones like The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. :)

I already grabbed a couple and resold them on eBay. Making a nice profit.

Nope.

In Australia, the 20-film set (21 DVDs because of Die Another Day) was released in a cardboard box, with a plastic slip over the top, like so:

Dr. No and From Russia With Love looks quite cool in B&W, actually.

[dark], that's the one I'm thinking of.

Pretty nice looking set there. It would have been cool if the US had had one big boxed set from the beginning also.

Actually, the DVDs were originally all released here individually. Later, they released them in three box sets (Dr. No - Diamonds Are Forever, Live And Let Die - A View To A Kill and The Living Daylights - The World Is Not Enough). They went on moratorium and were eventually re-released, as were box sets of the Connery and Brosnan films (with a space for Die Another Day, which hadn't been released).

The huge box set followed (also with a space for Die Another Day). The set was later re-released to include Die Another Day.

Ah I see. The US has always had the three boxed sets of DVD's in no particular order. They seemed to like to have a few from each Bond era. I wonder how a big boxed set of all films would have sold in conjunction with the sets we had.

For those still trying to complete their collections, I notice that EzyDVD are currently stocking Dr. No and Tomorrow Never Dies.

Also for Brozzie fans, After the Sunset will be reduced to $19.83 on August 17, while the Around the World in 80 Days 3-disc set is available for just $14.95.

JBs in Melbourne are also selling individual Bond titles for $14.95 each, as far as I can tell they're all avaiable, so good chance to pick up any you may be missing. They also have the box set that [dark] mentioned above for $289, (as well as Connery and Brosnan Bond box sets).

I got the same Monster box set about two years ago. Magnificent :)

Yeah, I also have the Monster box set, although I've only watched Dr. No - Live And Let Die on DVD since I bought it (that probably also would have been about two years ago).

I had noticed those individual titles at JB too, now that you mention it freemo.

The DVDs really are quite jam-packed, too. It'll take a lot for me to shell out for the new editions in 2006.

Tried getting the monster DVD set from JB, but they said it was out of stock. :)

Yeah, when I first saw it (when I started this thread), they had signs up stressing stock was strictly limited (hence the limit of two per customer).

Haven't been back since, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were all out (that was the Brisbane City store, by the way).

Well, I haven't seen any in Canberra (haven't checked for a while) but Myer in Civic sells them individually (or at least last time I checked)

Also I have seen the box set at the Big W in Young (on holidays, IMO going to Young is the opposite of a holiday) they usually have pretty cheap dvd prices (got the RotK Extended dvd real cheap only two weeks after it came out)

With the exception of Die Another Day, the Bond DVDs haven't been produced since MGM started distributing its own DVDs here in Australia a couple of years ago. Of course, since then, Sony has purchased MGM and is soon to be releasing MGM's films itself (although I doubt we'll see Bond on DVD until closer to Casino Royale's release).
