The XBOX 360 released a downloadable version of Perfect Dark a while ago, its the same game but with slightly touched up visual effects. I'd like to see a downloadable Goldeneye 64 version for the Nintendo Wii. I was disappointed with Goldeneye Reloaded myself because I thought it was simply a re-release of Goldeneye 64 for the Wii.

I still wish for this but doubt it will happen, bar going to buy an N64 and GoldenEye 007 game.

It was such a classic, it's such a shame it's not out there via console download or something. They would make a fortune and reach so many new gamers.

Good point. I'm loving my Call Of Duty, right now and Goldeneye64 wouldn't probably do so well today. It would be nice of them though, if they just did it for me.

I would suggest running it on an emulator (only if you have the original cartridge of course) if you are able to do so because it can improve the quality of some of the graphics, but it's definitely not even close to the same as a full remake.

If the original Goldeneye did get re-released it would obviously only be on either the Wii as a virtual console game, the XBOX360 as an upgraded remake like Perfect Dark or both. This would, unfortunately, leave out folks who are PS3-only... which is kinda lame.

I'm sure if Nintendo got the full rights from Activision (who now have the Bond video game license) and Rare (now part of Microsoft) they'd not only release it on the virtual console, but they'd probably want to release it on the 3DS... saying GE on 3DS would be a BIG seller is a bit of an understatement. People might actually buy some 3DS consoles, too!

There's an in-depth article about the GoldenEye XBLA remake situation and what went down between the three parties involved. Basically, Activision and Microsoft blame Nintendo for GoldenEye not being released.

As some know, Nintendo has always done things their own way, often times puzzling people. They're very protective of their brands.

Rare started working on the GE XBLA remake before they even knew if it was legal for it to be released. Activision came on board and gave the project a green light. Of course, Nintendo needed to approve the project as well.

Microsoft offered to let Nintendo put the original N64 game on Wii's Virtual Console, while they placed the remake on Xbox Live. Nintendo said no.
