While we're discussing MP, though, I'd like to pose a question to anyone who's interested...how do you think Bond would interpret his relationship with her? If someone were to ask him why he's never slept with her, what might he say? What's his understanding of their interactions?
This is the first time I've been really baffled as to how Bond thinks...

I agree - maybe that's something she needs to keep to herself.

Bond would probably think of some clever quip like "We haven't slept together, but we got off on the wrong foot." or something along those lines. I doubt that Bond would actually admit that he's never slept with MP without bringing humor into it (which is something he usually does when he doesn't have the upper hand in a situation.)

Playful flirting perhaps - or maybe he'd throw in some lies. It's Bond, one can never be totally sure. Be interesting to compare the responses from both characters if they were 'real'. We know what happened when Moneypenny "tested" a certain gadget in Die Another Day...

In the books, Bond is generally more honest. I can picture Fleming's Bond saying that MP is just holding out for Mr. Right, probably b/c she's been hurt in the past. In the movies, he'd probably have to have some kind of quip for it..."close, but no cigar."

Moneypenny and I hit it off pretty well. We both liked the same things: sunsets (but not sunrises), long walks at night, pecan pie and an abhorrence of evil, so it was a real fit from the start. I found her to be enthusiastic if not very adventurous in bed, with a tendancy to sometimes cry afterwards, but I was willing to overlook that, because - well, heck - I thought it was love.
As the months went on, I was introduced to her parents, Doug and Elaine, and her brothers (fraternal twins) Mitchell and Leon, who both work for the British Post. Lovely people and very supportive of their daughter's career.
Which, I must admit, was probably what sunk our relationship. She is a career-girl - I must warn any aspiring suitors - and it was always 'M said this' or 'Q made that' or James Bond, James Bond, James Bloody Bond! What did that guy ever do that was so good? Could he grout an entire bathroom in two and a half days? I doubt it.
So, as many relationships go, it died a slow and natural death. We enjoyed a stiff, awkward Christmas together, tried some rote make-up sex, even planned a vacation to Fiji, but by February, our hearts were no longer in it. It was obvious she was married to her work and I had just landed a lucrative job re-fitting the kitchen on Richard Branson's island that I couldn't turn down.
We parted, professing a friendship but knowing that we wouldn't see one another again. We haven't. I wish her all the best and hope she finds happiness in the arms of some man (or woman, who knows?) Just as long as it isn't that jerk Bond.
Moneypenny's first name is Ivy.
