Tried to watch one of these once and the amount of commercials is staggering. It's like 4 minutes of movie and then 8 minuets of commercials. A joke. Unless they've changed their ways, I give Spike TV's Bond marathons a big :)

Must agree; and that's a shame for how big this marathon looks to be.

Personally, I'll stick to the Encore Bond marathons and viewings when it comes to watching Bond on cable. Top notch pictures (although almost always full-screen), sound and uncut makes for more fun than trying to watch commercials interuppted by a movie. :)

Although I also detest what Spike has done to the Bonds, the worst treatment was done by American Movie Classics (AMC). Although the only times I remember AMC running them was in the early part of '04, they did the worst possible hack job on the films that I saw. In addition to the commercials every few minutes, they cut scenes short and removed little things pertinent to the plot of at least a couple of the films.

Totally agree. And yet despite this, and despite owning all the dvd's, which I watch all the time......I invariably will watch some of the marathon. It goes like this: Bon-san is happily "cruising the cable galaxy", bag of chips at my side, with a comfortable rhythm to my channel-changing, and all of a sudden, Bond is on the telly. And, I....just....can't....seem....to....look....away. Must....watch....Bond....movie.

Hopeless! :)

Since I can't find all the DVD's(From Russia With Love, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, Living Daylights, anybody not wanting an arm and leg for those?) I have to settle for them on TV. Yes, the commercials piss me off, but I just can't help but watch, I definitely can relate. So can my father.

No, On Her Majesty's Secret Service? :) For shame. My VHS copy of it is buggered and I've been dying to see it as it's my favourite of the Bond films. I'm actually considering downloading a DVD-rip of it off of the internet, but I'll probably just buy the whole collection over again on DVD. Geez, then in another 10 or 20 years time I'll probably have to re-purchase the whole collection again due to new entertainment technology. God, so frustrating sometimes especially with video games!

It almost always seems to be the one that gets the short end of the stick in marathons. I remember ABC was talking of splitting it into two showings or something like that when they were showing them a few years ago.

Ah, fair enough. I see what you mean. If staying with VHS then, I'm sure you could also find a very cheap copy on eBay also.

Ahhh, Spike Tv...gotta love those goofy promos just before they go to commercials every 10 minutes. I hope everyone in their promotions dept gets black coals for contributing their annoying jingles to society

I've been monitoring Spike TV since 10 am this morning and I haven't seen any Bond whatsoever, just that crappy VIP show with Pamela Anderson. What's the deal?

Well that's not the case for me, I'm in the Eastern Standard Time Zone of Canada but all I've been seeing on Spike TV is VIP. Like they've got a VIP marathon on.

I gave up on SPIKE when LTK started and I could not hear the dialogue and I swear to God I heard Dalton firing the gun twice in the gun barrel. I have it on SciFi watching The Twilight Zone Marathon.
