At my school we do a lot of musicals. I was just wondering if anyone on CBn has either taken part in, is in, or is about to be in any kind of musical (or drama) productions, and what part they played.

Early this year I took part in my school's spring musical Little Shop Of Horrors, where I played the chinese plant seller. Next year I should be in the play Pride And Prejudice (based on the Jane Austin novel), and Guys and Dolls is also rumoured for next year.

Now, what about you? :)

Hey 00-FAN008.

I love musicals, and have been involved both amateur and professionally with them.

Maybe some day I'll bore you with the gory details. :)

Ciao,

Ian

I was Lady Maybelle in a somewhat bowdlerized version of Once Upon a Mattress.

Oh yes.

Hey! No fair making fun of my receeding chin! I'm very proud of it, it makes me feel like Queen Victoria.

But seriously, folks. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed every moment of it, even though my character wasn't funny. And it was a comedy. See, she's supposed to be this French girl who only speaks one word of English - "yes!" - and it's meant to be very funny that one of our heroes, Sir Harry, picks her up. Ha ha, he wants an easy girl. Ha ha. But because there were lots of little kids in the production, and sensitive parents, most of the contraversial stuff was expurgiated...including Lady Maybelle's linguistic shortcomings. After rewrites, she knew only one word of English - "no!" Shockingly, this was even less funny than the original concept. But I got a few laughs anyway, possibly because the audience was high.

God, I love drama.

I played Sir Toby Belch in a high school play of Shakespear's TWELETH NIGHT.

Got a certificate of commendation at the end of the year for it too.

If only I hadn't skipped out on my school's production of It's A Wonderful Life, I would know what it feels like to be in a drama production. :)

But musical's close enough. :) And, I'll have the pleasure of being in a play later this year. :)

Thanks. At a loss as to how she might inject funny back into my character, I guess the director thought to herself, "ooh, I know...COMICAL HAT!"

It just makes me think of SNL's Celebrity Jeapordy, really.

"It's an oversized cowboy hat. Haha! It's funny."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is! It's funny, 'cause it's bigger than a regular hat."
"Go back to your podium now."

I'm just about to start in the big wide world as a trained actor. Baked beans for me every day then.

You'd be lucky Paul. Baked Beans are a rich mans game. Once you're on the 'up', you'll go from 'Happy Shopper' to 'Heinz'. :)

:) I suppose it could be the hat, either that, or you accidentally poked the flyman in the eye with it. :)

I've had many parts whereby I would be on and off the stage with just one line. I.E. Playing 'Drake' in 'Annie' is good for that. The best laugh was the very last performance when the dog and it's owner didn't turn up for the walkdown. So, what would this straight laced English butler do in this situation?. Well, I just walked on with a spare dog collar and said "it's a hard-knock life". :)

Still trying to find that C.V./Resume. :)

Glad to see a number of people here who enjoy participating in Theatre.

I did a LOT of theatre in High School, both musical and drama! I went searching through my computer and found 3 pics that I photoshopped for my web-site back in High School. I'll try and scan more later, they'll be a lot better quality.

My Introduction to Theatre class did "Story Theatre" a couple weeks ago. Various folktales and fairytales that were changed around a bit. There are some pictures on my mom's camera phone, if we ever get them on a computer i'll try and post them.

I don't think I can act worth a damn (many will disagree), but I did do the lighting and photography for this year's high school production of "Grease."

In fact, I'm wearing my official Grease shirt right now.

Sweet... you get shirts! :)

At my school, those involved in musical or drama productions pay to get a poster (which everyone signs), and a DVD-or-VHS copy of the production. I got two DVD copies of Little Shop Of Horrors for both of the casts I was in... one of which I was the chinese plant seller. In the other cast I did chorus work, and there was another plant seller.

Glad to see a number of people here who enjoy participating in Theatre.

Same. I find that the smartest people at my school take part in plays and musical productions. Majority of the ones who don't are losers... but that's only because they have bad attitudes and no-good-reasons not to be in any productions.

Yesterday I performed comedy at the Open Wide festival. It is being held at the place I study (studied - just got my final results today) acting: http://www.openwidefestival.co.uk/

I perform as part of Pregnant By Your Dad Theatre Company. We devise our own comedy. Satirical, controversial, juvenile and extremely strange stuff mainly. The performance went well (despite a slight technical hitch).
