I was wondering if any of the Fleming novels mention what music/singers JB listens too or enjoys? What would be the equivalent today?

Possibly Jazz?

There was an excellent article by Raymond Benson in the old US fan club publication, Bondage, which analyzed the soundtracks of the books.

From Zenct's overview
Bondage - Number 16, Winter 1989

MUSIC/BOOKS: The Soundtracks to the Novels by Raymond Benson. Researched by Mark Atkins. (A terrific examination of the music contained in the works of Ian Fleming.)

Culled from the pages of Fleming, Bond was aware of The Ink Spots, Rosemary Clooney etc. Sort of 1950's pop - jaunty tunes. Not jazz really, although Gardner has Bond being a vintage Jazz enthusiast.

Well, at least we know what he DOESN"T listen to. According to Sean Connery in Goldfinger, the Beatles! :)

Yup. Inspired Ray Bradbury. His working title was Farenheit 38! :)

Bond obviously preferred The Beach Boys (or Gidea Park to be precise) to The Beatles.

I'd like to think that the cinematic Bond, behind closed doors with no one else around, cranks up some Blues now and then. :)

Because of JB's taste in fine wines etc. I think he would be a Chopin buff. The Piano can be absolute therapy and sole enhancing when you've got a tough job to do.

I think James Bond's favourite musical artist is The Byron Lee Band. Actually, Fleming mentions The Ink Spots in one of his books. I prefer to think of OO7 as having a knowledge of music culture, but keeping his tastes (with the exception of The Beatles) to himself. For example, if Bond happens to be a huge fan of, say, The Backstreet Boys, I'd rather not know about it.

First off, hear hear Mr. Somerset. Second, I seem to recall reading that he likes Big Band music Can't remember what book, though. Might have been "High time to Kill" when he was talking to the doomed Helena Marksbury or the doctor from that book. I can't remember now.
